Hi, I just bought a used MIM Jazz Bass and the neck pickup doesn't seem to work. I turn the bridge controller (second knob) all the way down and the neck controller (first knob) all the way up but I get no sound. When I touch the pickup I do here some static in the amp but no sound.

I think I am going to crack open the front to check for a bad solder but I thought I'd ask if this is a common problem or if it is something else. :?: :?:

Thanks

Touch a screwdriver to each pickup while plugged in, if you get no sound (you'll hear it when it meets the magnets) then yes check for loose wire or bad solder. BTW does it use batteries?

I did the screw driver test and didn't hear anything. I cracked open the case and checked the solders and all look fine. I am guessing either the pot or the pickup is bad.

Is there a way to test which is bad?

If I need to replace the pickup I would probably want to get 2 Original Fender Pickups. Not sure about where to get them.
