I just bought a cheap 91 -94 MIM Jazz on ebay for a relic project. What type of wood did they use for those? If it's anything but alder I may get another body since I've yet to hear anything except an alder J-Bass that pleases my ear. I hoping to get it to sound as good as my GL bass so when I switch the tone is similar. Also, does anyone know the color choices for that year? It looks to be CAR os some other bright red. Help appreciated.

Thanks-

Once I got the neck off I could tell it was poplar, bummer. I added Duncan stacks and rewired with 25OK CTS pots, an orange drop cap and hoped it would sound as good as my Geddy bass. It pales in comparison.
No low end booty, I'm guessing it's due to the poplar body. Sounds OK but the difference is huge. Does anyone have an alder body for sale? Any color or condition considered.

Thanks-
TW

I have a 96 MIM Jazz Fretless, I think it sounds pretty good, I've played a lot of gigs on it with no complaints at all, the only thing I did was to change the pickguard and knobs on it.

I have had guys play it and can't believe it's a MIM Std. I do like the sound of it :D :D
