All you jazz bass players must have some. I am constantly tweaking. Right now, I am playing with the tone knob on my Geddy at ten (all the way up in the treble world and with some inescapable grounding buzz), pickups full-on and running through an Ampeg BA 115 HPT. Settings on the amp are:

Volume (Gain) = 5
Style Selector = 2
Low = 6
Mid = 3
High = 6

Man-oh-man. You can really hear the wood and the frets come alive. So nice. Snarly.
Earthy.

Bass Settings:

Neck Volume: 3/4 on
Bridge Volume: 1/2 on
Tone: 1/4-1/2 on depending on song

Amp Settings:

Amp: MAG C410T-300 EVO II Combo.

Bass: 8
Lo Mid: 6
Middle: 4
Hi Mid: 4
Treble: 7

Input: 6
EQ Switch on
Compression: 7

I sometimes also use my Boss Bass Overdrive as a bass boost pedal. Turn the Overdrive knob to "Dry".

There you go....nice and in depth.

ohhhh tone settings! Soooo many to choose from!

Well... my main sound atm is my Fender MIM Jazz passive.

Neck Pickup: Full volume

Bridge Pickup: About 90%

Tone: OFF

I use Boss Bass Overdrive alot recently. With the tone rolled off it gives it a nice and tight response.

I currently use Hartke Amps with.

Low Freq: +3

High: +3

Equaliser: Mid scoop.

So thats about it!! But i do use millions of settings for different situations, this is the settings i use for most of my originals though atm.

100% Neck
35% bridge

Makes it sorta sound like a Rick 4001

Amp settings totally flat!
bass settings , both pickups full with the exception of some songs which I might prefer one pickup only (bridge or neck depending on the song). Sometimes I use the tone halfway to get a more warm sound .

Neck Pickup- 100%
Bridge Pickup- 100%
Tone- 50%

I will sometimes solo the bridge pickup at 100% by turning neck pickup off if I want to step out a little bit.

Mesa

I hardly ever use the EQ. Gain at 1-2 o'clock, Bass at 1 o'clock, Mid at at 10 o'clock, Treble at 1 o'clock. I use the Gain as a Tone control instead of volume because my preamp is tube driven.

I like to play with both pickups full and tone all the way down.
On my amp (which is a rubbish one i've had for ages) i have:

Low:6
Mid:9
High:2

I also have a Boss Bass Overdrive but i haven't used it for a while because i can't be bothered getting a battery for it

when i slap i do turn my tone on bass up to about a quarter
