Mine, in order of preference:

1. Surf Green - White Pickguard
2. Fiesta Red - Tort pickguard (especially when old and faded)
3. Olympic White that has turned yellow with age - Tort pickguard
4. Sunburst - Black or Tort pickguard
5. Natural - White Pickguard

I have black with a tort pickguard that I think looks real classy. Before that I had black with white mother-of-toilet-seat (pearloid) that I also liked a lot. It had pearloid slab fret markers and the matching pickguard was a nice combo. I customized that one myself and I also covered the chrome plate where the volume and tone controls are with some of that pearloid/prismatic looking stuff that you used to see on old Trans Am dashboards. Kinda cheesy but it really looked pretty good with all the other pearly looking stuff on there.

Why does a tortoise pickguard look so damn good with any color body. I can't be the only one that thinks so. I've been seeing tortoise pickguards go on e-bay for up to two times their actual cost. I think everybody is replacing their originals.
