Dont miss the oportunity of getting a Geedy Lee Jazz bass! I've played with it from a friend who lend it to me once! The bass sounds awesome and since it was well setup it played nicely and comfortably! In the near future I will buy one for sure!

I've had a Geddy for a year now. At the time I bought it I thought it was the best sounding and best feeling bass I tried. I haven't tried any of the new '08 MIA's yet but they would really have to be great for me to get rid of the Geddy. I put a black pick guard on mine and it looks cool. I use EB 2806 flats on mine and the sound is great. I think you'd like a Geddy. Good luck.
I just put on some EB Hybrids on it...nice punch.

I bought my Geddy Lee Bass last week and I Love It. The Set-Up was darn near perfect for what I like. Go for it. It's a Great Bass.

It's a good bass, I was seriously considering one for myself but I've decided to get a CS '64 reissue instead.

If you want a solid bass with a killer tone and a simple electronic system, buy this one!

dunno if u bought it yet, but in my opinion the Geddy has become overpriced... when it first came out it was a great value and a great sounding bass, but for $1000 i find it to be lacking... however Fender has released a 70s classic jazz for around $700.. the only differences between the toww that I can see are the bridge and the fingerboard... if neither of these differences bug you than id shoot for the 70s.

Several years ago when I was looking for a new jazz bass I had my wife hand me a jazz bass. When I finished playing around with it, she would hand me another one. This way, it kept things objective. All my wife knew was what a jazz bass looked like. As long as it said fender, that was my only concern. When I was done testing I picked " that black bass ". At the time I didn't realize it was a Ged Bass. I didn't want to be swayed by Mexican, American, or Japanese. I simply picked what felt and sounded the best. I haven't looked back since.

Bass Player Magazine did their 2008 Readers' Choice Awards and the Geddy Lee Jazz Bass ranked in the top ten in the following categories:

Best Value Award (4th)
Best Bass Between $700 and $1000 (5th)

I too have one of these and have had nothing but compliments on its appearance and tone. I also replaced the white pickguard with a black one as I have always dug the black-on-black look. The block inlays scream '70s and most bass players ask me, "What year is it?" I put BadAss bridges on all my basses (the sustain is insane), so this one saved me that upgrade.

Used, these basses sell anywhere from $400 to $700 dollars, so shop around and you will likely find one far under the list price ($1299, but GC has them for $999).

Here's a pic of mine with the black pickguard.

Not positive of what year the Aerodyne is, but this particular model (the Japan non-export) was introduced in 2006 and I bought it used in early 2008, so I'd say it's likely an '06 or '07. The differences on the non-exports are the pickguard, dot inlays on the fretboard, chrome hardware, and standard location control plate output jack.

As for the truss rod on the Geddy, the truss rod adjustment is under the neck plate. There is a faux indent on the headstock, but you can't adjust it there. I don't know how that compares to the Hwy 1 or American standard.
