When did Fender introduced the Geddy Lee jazz bass? Wasn't it in 2001?

Hell, dude, just ask her out! Don't be bashful!!!

(Sorry, I couldn't resist!)

I'm new here. I play a Mex Power Jazz bass, with the Fishman bridge through a Peavey 210/350 watt amp with an Peavey ext. cab. with a Carvin 18 in it.

I've been playing bass since 1965... Cough, cough, wheeze, wheeze!

True that about the GL, but the serial number he gave says that bass is from 1985-86.

I think I have the answer about the serial number. I just had my GL Jazz on ebay 2 weeks ago and got emails about the year which lead to a lot of research by me and also the potential buyer and his "Fender Expert" friend. Here's what we came up with:

The GL basses with the B0 serial number have necks made in the Fuji-gen plant in the mid 80s. They had a huge overstock that were laying around and in 1998 when Fender introduced the Geddy, they used a lot of those necks. So my serial number was a B0 but when I removed the neck to see the date stamp on the butt of the neck, it confirmed that my GL was indeed "assembled" in August 2002. So that's the basics... the guy had emailed a lot of different websites to confirm this, but I accidently deleted the emails after my auction was over. I emailed him asking for the info again and he sent me another link with good info which I'll try and remember to post when I get home from work tonight. Hope that helps !
