It's an American made Wilkinson given to me by Trevor Wilkinson in the early 80s, it works fine but I will replace the bridge with its original 72 Fender bridge soon, I miss the old sound and "vibe".
Thanks everyone.

I own no JBs but here are some pics I found long ago on the interwebs. I believe the backstory was they were studio-owned, just banging around caseless for decades. If only they could talk.

Cool looking bridge,.... was it a proto type or was it available to the masses.....I've never heard a bass with a Wilkinson Bridge being played ...... what after market bridge would you compare it too ? :)

Hello James, it was a prototype of his design w saddle and string anchor improvement, it sounds like the old vintage bass bridge, although the vintage bridge gets the wood to vibrate more. It was very popular in the 80s and less pricey than a badass. I think Carvin used these a lot in the 80s to the 90s .

They were discontinued to make way for the newer designs and commissioned out to keep prices competitive. The only thing I regretted was having to bore 2 more holes on my '72 for the plate.

I will reinstall the vintage bridge soon, luckily the Fender bridge covers the 2 unnecessary holes.

Thank you very much.

:D

Hello James Coderre, I reinstalled my original 1972 Fender bridge and luckily it covered the holes I bored for the Wilkinson bridge. Now I really savor my bass the way it was and should’ve been all along – pure stock. Everyone in the 80s started changing pickups, bridges and cranked everything up. It was a great era too. I really forgot the sound of my Fender for 30 years, all the add-ons were fun and expensive (haha) I am glad I restored it and set it up well. Have a nice day! Thanks.
