Hello Everyone,

I am new to the Forum and recently purchased a used Jazz Bass at a guitar swapmeet in Kent, WA. I needed a backup bass to my Precision and found a old Jazz Bass in my budget. It says it is "Made in Korea" and has a serial number of E1041867.

Looking the serial number list, and many of the versions of it on the web, I am at a loss to find the E1+6 numbering scheme. I have found the "E1+5" format for early 80's MIA basses but that is the closest I have found.

The bass "looks" like it could be 20+ years old and has a nice worn in feel typical of older basses. It plays like a dream and came with the original hard shell case cut for the Jazz Bass.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to dating this bass?

Anthony

I did try www.guitardaterproject.org before posting and there is no radio button for Korean made Fenders, Just MIA, MIM, MIJ and CIJ. Even when I tried the s/n E104#### and chose MIA, MIM, MIJ or CIJ I came up with no results.

What is the best way to add a pic to a post in this forum?

Where's those brainiacs Jlarocho or BrotherDave when you need them?

I used www.photobucket.com it shows you how to do it step by step, make sure you pic med for the pic size tho. I don't know how else to help as far as the serial #, can try consumer relations.

I posted some info on another posting that you made anthonym! But anyway I think it is a 60's reissue jazz bass ! I used to have one although I dont remember the s# ! I'm going to check on a book that I have to verify this !

Thanks! I really appreciate the help. The serial number thing is strange and has only lead me to dead ends...

E1041867

I was playing around with this bass last night and found myself really liking the low end and the neck is so much faster to work with than my P-Bass. I bought originally as a backup bass but I could see using all the time. It sure does need a fair bit of cleaning though...

The book does not mention anything about Korean made guitars, I'm searching the internet for info . The seven digit s# is very strange.
