Just wondering if anyone has actual hands on experience with the '70's Jazz Bass . I mean the Mexican with the block inlays.

No stores in Pittsburgh or vicinity have any yet.

I had a thread on here with a survey to see if it was worth the $ or not, but no one seemed to respond. All I got was someone sending me to another thread that consisted of a bunch of dudes saying "they look really cool", and that sort of stuff. In the mean time I've had the chance to play one at the local GC and I wasn't impressed to say the least. The overall fit and finish just wasn't what I would expect from what claims to be a 70's style Jazz.

It did look really cool though.

Thanks for the response. As I said, they haven't arrived here yet. I called Fender about them, of course they praised them. Why they have to be mexican, I can't understand.

I have a FSR P-Bass that I love. I've played a bunch of them and some are junk and some are just o.k, then my bass and one other were beautiful.

I guess they get lucky sometimes.

Thanks again.

I tried one yesterday in a music shop in Manchester. I only played it for about 5 minutes but instantly thought:

"this feels as good as my MIA Fender Jazz!"

Slapping on it felt great, but playing with fingers over the bridge pickup could take some getting used to. it felt a bit strange, like the pickup was angled funny.

Overall i would probably have bought if i had the cash
