I suggest that you take your bass to a certified tech for that setup, if you dont know how to do it you might break something .

When I buy a bass at the store, I always ask them to set up the bass, this should be inclusive to the final price. Bring it back and get it set up properly. Good luck.

+1

A setup should be included in any bass/guitar purchase. If it's not offered, ask for it.

Sometimes these sales people at the store gives me a blank stare when I ask for this. It should be included. For the most part, I won't buy floor model either, I ask for the ones in the back stock room if it's available.

I wouldn't dare let anyone touch my Basses.

If you never done one, take it to a tech.
A good tech will ask you about your playing, or want to watch you play for a minute. Even after the setup, you should give it a once over for playablity for "you" by taking the time to actually play it before leaving the store, if something is not right for "you" then they should fix or adjust it right then and there.
If you don't talk to the tech or setup person, then expect a generic like setup...some techs setup everything for "how they play".

Good Luck to ya.

Or if you'd like to try a setup, i'll be glad to help out.
