Has anyone tried Finger Ease on their Jazz Bass Guitars? I was thinking of picking this up and giving it a whirl. Any tips/tricks when applying it on the neck/fretboard?

Thanks

I used it before a long time ago but you get addicted and every time you play you want to spray some more . So I just started to wash my hands and dry them real good before a gig . Your hands feel sticky because they are dirty . You can also sand the back of your bass neck and it will make it feel faster .

It's not because of dirty hands, trust me...i think it may be that the strings are getting older...they are not that old, but maybe it's time to change them.

I was just wondering if used in moderation if it would cause any harm, etc. Just a thought.

No, actually it is dirty fingers, the oils that are on your fingers from touching your nose, food and what not. Not dirty as is scummy, but oils that your hand touched through out the day. It is a good idea to clean your hands before playing the bass/guitar. Bad/old strings can do that too.

If you want to gunk up your strings use all you want, otherwise it serves no purpose.

I heard Jaco ate fried chicken before gigs.

Guess that would work. Anything that makes it slippery is gonna make it play faster.

However if you know anything about jacos lifestyle you may not want to take advice from him.lol

Have read the book - you have a good point. However; think about it. You are going to spend the money for chicken (mmmmmmm :D ) anyway - finger licking, slicking good supper and fast finger pickin too all for the same money. Now, who doesn't like fried chicken and fast slick pickin ? How can you lose.
Every bad man has good points and every good man bad.

Got a point there bro. I do know that when I lived in fort lauderdale I used to hear stories from the older locals that Jaco was pretty much homeless living on the beach with his bass. I also heard stories that he would grab the bass out of local bands bass players hands in the middle of a performance and start showing off..or in his words "this is how you play bass"..kinda arrogant if you ask me.

But, I got nothin bad to say about a good piece of fried chicken... and if it can double as fret lube then I say what the hay..kill 2 birds right?

BTW..I have no idea if this is bad for a fretboard or not (so do so at your own risk) but so far I can report excellent results. I use that spray on cooking oil...not PAM although that may work as well but the kind that just happens to be in our kitchen cab (so technically it's free lol) "organic extra virgin olive oil" probably from whole foods or trader joes. Really gives you super fast fretting and puts a shine back onto dull rosewood.
