Hey all, new member here. I recently acquired a 2006 MIM Jazz bass, and am curious about a few things. One, mine has a white pearl pick guard, were these standard on these basses? Secondly, I've seen mention of immediate upgrades that people have made to these, so what are some ones that I could do immediately and what are some that I could do later on?

That pick guard isn't typical for a MIM Standard basses, which I'm assuming that's what that one is, but it is an option that Fender offers, or used to on their site. If not, you can get them elsewhere in all kinds of colors or patterns. As for other upgrades, it depends on what you want. They have bridges, or pickups, or tuners, etc. The only thing with pickups is you'd have to know how to solder them and wire them up. Bridges are easy. I have a Squier Jazz Bass and I swapped out the bridge on it with a Leo Quan bridge, and I was playing that one tonight. I guess if there's something about your bass that you think you'd like improved, you can go with that. If nothing bothers you, then I wouldn't even worry about it. The only reason I even swapped the bridge out was because it wasn't working out for another bass that I'd originally got it for, and decided to use it for the Squier.

Nice Jazz. I think the Original standard PG was White, or the Parchment color. The White Pearloid on yours was probably new to that Jazz at sometime.

I know you had a Jazz or two that had that particular pick guard, but those weren't Standard MIM basses, though, were they?

The Adam Clayton Jazz came standard with the White Pearloid PG.

The USA Geddy Lee Jazz has a White Pearloid PG standard as well.
