I have just changed the batteries after 3 months although unplugged when not in use. When you crank the amp up (fender rumble 200) I get crackling, click off to bypass and no crackling. Brand new batteries twice, still crackling. elite PJ does not do this.

Did not see the issue with the pre-amp. Where is this located?

In the bass body where is the battery.

American Ultra Jazz bass Features:

Redesigned active/passive preamp
Redesigned for Ultra Noiseless bass pickups, this preamp features sweeter highs, focused mids and more usable bass.
