HELLO, I'M PLANNING TO GET AN AMERICAN DELUXE JAZZ BASS AROUND CHRISTMAS. BUT I HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS ABOUT THE OUTPUT OF THE SOUND, SINCE ONLY HALF OF THE VOULME KNOB IS BOOST AND THE OTHER HALF IS CUT. ALSO, I WOULD LIKE TO GET ANY INFO ANYONE HAS ON HOW LONG THE BATTERIES LAST BEFORE THEY NEED TO BE CHANGED. ... LAST BUT NOT LEAST , HOW WELL DOES SOUND WHEN PLAYING SLAP STYLE? I'VE TRIED LOOKING ON YOUTUBE, BUT MOST OF THEIR VIDS DON'T ANSWER THE QUESTIONS. SO IF ANYONE CAN FILL ME IN ON THE CONSTRUCTION OF THIS BASS AND OUTPUT AND THE VARIATIONS IN SOUND YOU CAN GET FROM IT, PLEASE MAKE ANY COMMENTS YOU CAN. I'D JUST LIKE TO BE SURE I'M INVESTING IN A BASS THAT WILL SATISFY ME A LIFETIME!......THANKS, AGAIN AND AGAIN :?:

Boost/cut volume knob? no such thing. On this particular bass it's a master volume, either you have volume or you don't; all volume knobs work like this.
Batteries last a long time actually unless you have a bad wiring connection.
I've had my Jazz 24 V for coming on a year and i just changed the original one (9v). Just make sure you unplug the cord after playing, it will bleed the battery out if left plugged in.
As far as slap goes, if you're a good slapper then this bass will compliment it.
The specs don't say anything about on/off active/passive, so this bass is probably always active.

The boost/cut is not the volume but the bass/treble setting. Volume is master on active basses from Fender, unless you had aftermarket, like my EMG still have the volume for each pup.

Hey, I actually just bought this bass on Sunday and received it on Wednesday. The knobs are master volume, pickup (fader), bass/treble boost/cut, and mid boost/cut. It sounds really great and plays well. I got the 3-tone sunburst with rosewood fretboard. There are just a few problems with mine though, such as a blue tint on the neck (I suppose from the markings on the wood before finishing), a couple small imperfections in the finish, and scratches found on the pick guard (found right after removing protective film) - I bought it new. Overall it's worth the money.

Oh and slapping does sound good on this, especially with all the versatility. I prefer this over my Gibson Thunderbird.
