Yeah, I imagine with that drill type one, that could be the risk with that thing. I've thought about that, as well. I think if anything, the hand crank one would be fine. Besides, less batteries I'd need to use, and buy.

Very true about the drill based winder.

You know, if I were just a guitarist instead of a bassist, as bizarre of a concept as that might be, especially when you've played bass for so many years, I'd definitely want to have a string winder to change the strings on a guitar. Those are especially a pain in the arse to string up by doing it manually. The tuners are a lot smaller, and more of them, and you're dealing with smaller strings, which seem to dig in your fingers more, when you're trying to hold them down while stringing it up.

6 Stringers can be a royal pain, as compared to a bass for stringing. The crank winder is a bit of a plus for the 6 stringers.

Indeed it would be. The funny thing is I haven't changed the strings on my Squier Telecaster probably since 2013. I know that's bad, but because how I so rarely play that thing, they aren't in that bad of shape. I bought a 3-pack of Ernie Ball .10's from AMS back then (I got those because of the price, and I had 3 guitars to put them on,) changed them all out, and they've been there ever since.

Tele's are so damn cool Paul. I always loved the sounds Jimmy Page had with his on the first Led Zeppelin album, in 1969.

Yeah, Fender recently made a couple of reproductions of those, one with the dragon design, and with those mirror discs before he painted it like that. He's actually used a Tele a lot more than the 1st album. The guitar solo for "Stairway To Heaven" was played on it.

I always likes Page's blues style a bit more then Clapton's.

Yeah, he was the original influence for me when I started playing bass. I know that's probably strange, since you'd think it would have been John Paul Jones, but I really didn't even know what a bass really was when I started, or before I started playing. I thought it was just some kind of guitar that had 4 strings on it, or whatever.

I wasn't musically inclined at all, but I was creative in other medias. I had a friend in high school that I used to hang out with who we both got into and obsessed with Led Zeppelin, and eventually he decided to learn how to play guitar (he even got a Tele copy, which looked like the guitar that Jimmy Page used in The Firm, speaking of him and Teles,) and eventually convinced me to start a band with him. I basically wanted to be like Jimmy Page, as ridiculous as that sounds, but hey, I was 16 years old, and didn't know any better. :P

It seems like a lifetime ago now. You know, a lot can happen in 31 years. Hell, a lot can happen in 10 or even 5 years.

How true that is. My 50th year from getting set free into the world, from High School. June of 1970. I couldn't wait to get into the world! Image

By the way, my move to Alabama is almost a done deal. Things are starting to run right along for this part of it anyway. Image

Wow, I'll bet back then you couldn't even imagine any of this 50 years later. Hell, when I was 16, I couldn't even imagine 30, but here I am pushing 50.

Yeah, life seems to move on like that, sometimes. Doors open and they close. Interesting that everything is happening like it is in 2020. The forum is shutting down, which I suppose isn't too big of a deal, considering we've managed without it before, although I got to say it's going to be weird not to log on here and shoot the $@!& and post nothing that has to do with any of the topics. :P Remember we've even talked about that with all of the other people gone, and we're like those hold outs in some ghost town. I just hope the $@!& didn't really hit the fan for good with all of the rest of the world, with this virus and all going down. I hope you're stocked up pretty good, and hope you won't need to have to break out Mr. .45 and 12 gauge because someone wants your toilet paper and canned goods more than you. It could go south like that, which I hope doesn't. I know everything is shut down, though.

I'll miss this place too. I sold off the arms I had. I can't safely pull a trigger with my arthritis in my pointer finger any longer, and hold the weapon. Time catches up with us all. I don't believe things will go that wrong with this virus, and all.

I still have a spot on TB, and they have that area that's a general shoot the breeze area also. Off Topic its called.

The Alabama house is moving along as I mentioned. We are pending on one that is getting closer to a close date in about 3 weeks to a month.

Sorry to hear about that. They do have some guns that are designed for that purpose. Smith & Wesson has a couple called the EZ Shield, or something like that. They're in .380 and 9mm. At least that's something if you need something for self defense. Hopefully, you never will, though.

I think I've browsed that forum area when I was active there, but I didn't post at that one. At least they have that, although it's probably not the same as here. At least there's PMs. I remember when you had your own forum, when we weren't even on this one, back in 2013 or so. Whatever happened to that? I remember you had some sort of trouble with it, and couldn't use it anymore.

Sounds good. What kind of place do you have there?
