That's true. More power, less weight, and certainly more efficient in a lot of ways. I suppose people will always debate between tubes, and solid state, but now there's the Class D to throw in the mix, besides the original solid state design. I guess sometimes they call it Class A/B, or there's Class A, and I assume B. Probably a bunch of other stuff, too. I just pick up bits and pieces of info here and there, I'm not an electrician, or whatever you'd have to be to know all of that.

I gave up on trying to understanding what's what anymore. I like what I have, it works the way I want it to, and it's not going anywhere. The same with the Epi EB-0. My bass of basses.

Yeah, that's the thing. Whatever works and sounds good to you, that's what really matters. It's kind of funny how you went through all of these expensive basses from Fender, Rickenbacker, Gibson, etc. and you find yourself really liking the cheapest bass that Epiphone puts out currently. Then again, I also got the cheapest bass Ibanez has out, and it's also a great player, which I've used to record professionally with. Sometimes, you just can get lucky like that.

Sure, if I went over it with a fine tooth comb, I probably could find things to nitpick about, but that would be ridiculous to do, especially at that price point. It does offer two main things which keep me playing it, the action/playability, and it doesn't sound half bad, either. I know your EB-0 is the same way, because I did manage to play on one.

Yeah, the irony of like what you just said about all the other basses, and amps I acquired, to get to a 100 watt Rumble 100 Combo, and an Epi EB-0. The 100 is about the middle of the Rumble Series Combos, and the EB-0 is about the bottom of the Epi Series Basses.
I don't kid myself, I know I'm lucky to have a really well assembled EB-0. ITS GREAT!!! Gibson style SG basses FOREVER!!! I even just look at it, and I feel good about playing it. Crazy right? If I were to play a 6 stringer, I think I would seriously take an extremely close look at the Epi Les Paul guitars. They just look really fine to me.

The Ibanez you have is a damn nice Ibanez bass. I came close to getting one before I acquired the EB-0. The SG body was too much for me to not have. In the store my EB-0 just looked, and sounded like it was beckoning me to take it home with me. The Rosewood board to me looks more of what I like, in place of the newer lighter woods I've seen on them now. The new EB-0's don't use Rosewood anymore. Getting a 2018 EB-0 worked out better fo me than a 2019. Lucky again on that.

I think in general the EB-0 basses are pretty well put together. I'm sure there's bound to be some lemons here and there, just like anything else, but all in all they are a good value, I think. Speaking of their 6-stringers, they have some new ones out for the 2020 NAMM and they're based more closely on 60's Gibson models, or something like that, even with the headstock shape. There's one SG that looks like the one that Robby Krieger had. I thought it was pretty cool looking.

The Ibanez is a nice player. I was lucky to get that, especially at that price point. They seem to put together their basses really well, I think. That was lucky you got a rosewood board on that bass. Maybe it could have been the last batch of them to even use that wood? I don't know if they'll go back to it, since they lifted those restrictions, or not. Tine will tell, I suppose.

Mine is a 2018, that came a short time before I snagged it. It could've been one of the last ones to be sent out, sitting on a rack at the GC warehouse. I don't know, just lucky for me to get it.
Even more ironic how I got my EB-0, the new one right out of the carton at the Coconut Creek store, had a problem with no sounds. It was literally just delivered as we spoke coming in the receiving door. Scratch that one. Checked the GC Delray Beach store, they had one. That one turned out too be the "Electric Lady". SA was out of the EB-0's in their entire system at the time.

Maybe it was just a thing of being at the right place at the right time, stars aligned and all of that. I believe that does happen from time to time.

It really shocked the hell out of me when the EB-0 at GC Coconut Creek coming right out of a sealed carton, produced no sounds. I tried it through three, or four amps. John, the rep I was going through, couldn't get anything from it either. Like I said before though, I like the Rosewood on my 2018 from GC Delray. I have never had that happen before. A good thing I tried out, and just didn't take it home. Has anything like that ever gone wrong on you like that?

The pickups were dead on it? Wow, I've never gotten a new instrument that was DOA like that, but I did have that one Squier Bass VI that had the broken neck on it, which I had to wait almost two months back ordered to get. I don't know if you remember that, or not. I think that was probably around 2013, or so. I went with Schecter right after that.

I do remember your Squier Bass VI having the neck issue. That should've been highly unlikely to occur on the Fender design neck, then say a Gibson / Epiphone 10 degree angled head. The Fender neck / head design is about the strongest of any manufactured on basses, or 6 stringers. Leave it to Paul, or Glenn to have oddities like that on a new bass. You did a fine choice though, on going with the Schecter in it's place I do truly believe. Schecter's have tempted me several times. Image

It could have been a dead pickup, but I really don't think so, since it was setup, and checked out on arrival to it's location after shipped into this country from Indonesia. My guess would be a connection to / from a volume pot, or the Humbucking itself. I witnessed it being removed from a sealed carton, as it had just been delivered to the store minutes before. They hadn't even entered it into the stores computer stock yet, just it's delivery. Like I mentioned before, concerning the fretboard, was a nicer Rosewood on my EB-0 I acquired from the other GC store. That one wasn't a Rosewood fretboard anyway. Come to think of it too, the body has a nicer grain that I prefer, on my EB-0, over the defective one I didn't take also. My 2018 EB-0 had it's "Electric Lady" name it from when I walked into the place.

Well, the Squier Bass VI is kind of similar to a Jaguar in design, in which they both have that weird tremolo bridge system, with the bar going into middle of the strings, instead of the bottom by the high E string, like on a Strat, and with that there is a bridge piece like that's on a Gibson. It's possible that that bridge could have been set up wonky on it, but it did seem like the neck was on at a weird angle going inwards. The strings totally bottomed out on it and you could not really produce any notes. That was a shame, since it was a cool instrument, other than that. The Schecter was also a good bass, but I guess it was just one of those things where you wind up getting hung up on another bass, and not keeping any connection to it, and impulsively getting rid of it, even though maybe you should have held on to it.

Yeah, maybe it was a loose, or severed connection with the wiring. I suppose that can happen, maybe even in transport, or not installed properly.

It’s funny how we can get more close to some basses than others, even when it’s still there.

I don't know, maybe they have their own personalities, even though they are objects made of wood and metal.
