Well, I do know it rocks a 350 watt Hartke 4 x 10" half stack, which meant it was running at 240 watts, because of the 8 ohms. I didn't dime the rig in the shop, but I could tell it was something. I'm still bummed that bass had the tuner issue with it. I would still be playing it today, most likely. I probably wouldn't have wound up eventually getting the Ibanez, though. Who knows?

There was the 2019 EB-0 with a Granadillo board, that was taken out of the carton at GC Coconut Creek, that had an issue with either the jack, the pup, or the volume pot. No sound, bottom line. No problem, GC West Palm Beach, had one they had just come in, still with a Rosewood board. Like we always say, from one to another you never know what you're gonna' get.

That's true, especially at that price point. But if you get a good one, it's one hell of a deal, I think. 8)

The best lower priced bass I ever acquired. I would think Gibson would turn out an EB-0, but I guess that would show a commitment to one of their early basses that helped to give them a bit of prominence in the bass world. The Gibson price would be outrageous on the EB-0 anyway, and maybe not made as well as the Epi EB-0. Isn't that a shame, that the company that turned out the bass originally, that was played by some real players has abandoned them?

I guess they probably figure since they have that one SG bass (isn't that what they're calling it?) then they wouldn't have to bother with that one. They did put out that one bass that's a Les Paul Junior shape, which was the original EB-0 shape to begin with, though. That one wasn't too expensive, considering. I guess the thing with them is it's always seemed that bass was like the redheaded stepchild to them, or an afterthought behind the 50 different friggin' Les Paul guitar models they have. I don't know, I find that ridiculous, but I guess that's what makes the profits for them. At least there is Epiphone to cover the bass stuff, if Gibson won't do it.

It's ironic that Gibson puts its major bass offerings to the lower Epiphone Company, with its manufacturing outside of the US. All in the family I guess. No complaints here though. $1,200. less for basically the same bass works out fine for me. With the bass amps having more EQ settings on them, it's almost like the SG Std. isn't really necessary. I do believe I get tones as well, or better from the Epi EB-0.
And like you have mentioned about the Gibson LP Guitar models, a bit of overkill there.

That's true, it does save a lot of money, especially if you don't give a crap about what it says on the headstock. I suppose the EB-3 is like the SG bass, but it's not a short scale. I wonder why they did that? Probably to compete with Fender Precisions and Jazzes, since those are long scale. Although, they do have the Thunderbird bass, which is long scale. You know I was joking when I said 50 different Les Paul models, but I'm probably right. I could go and count them up, out of curiosity.

You'd need a computer to tally the Gibson LP's offered!
It's a good move to have the Epi EB-3 as a long scale. A fair amount of players like the Gibson EB-3L, so it makes sense for Epi to get the nod for a famous Gibson EB-3L bass. SG bass bodies are still kinda' popular. I myself, am hooked for life on the SG style. I just love the looks of them. I always have, and I guess always will. Image

I actually just looked on the Gibson site, and from what I counted, there is less than 50, more like 30, unless I was missing some, since they were divided in different subcategories, but still...:P

The SG shape is pretty cool, I think. The one thing about it, if you had to pull a Hendrix, or a Paul McCartney, at least it wouldn't be as awkward, since both sides match up, other than dealing with the knobs. You know, that was another reason why Paul McCartney went with that Hofner. I think the first one that he had or looked at was right handed, from what I've read, and then he got the left handed model.

That wasn't that uncommon for a right hand guitar used for a left hand back then. My dad was a southpaw. One day my grandfather was watching me tie my shoes, and asked how is was doing the knot. I told him it was how my dad taught me how to tie them. He replied, oh that explains why the knot is backwards. Your dad was a southpaw. They do everything backwards. Oh well.

Gibson must have dropped 20 or so LP's. How can LP players deal with such a limited selection to play? SG's play as mean as they look! Image

I'm also left-handed, but I learned on a right-handed bass, so I'm not one of the ones who complain about the lack of left-handed instruments. :P That's probably also the reason why I learned on a right-handed bass, because there weren't any in the store, or at least the cheapest bass available. I remember when I was in high school, there was this girl in one of my classes that used to say I wrote backwards, or in the opposite direction (top to bottom, or reverse, I don't remember,) because I'm left-handed. I never really understood that, because I just wrote the way I wrote, and didn't think about it. Now, my handwriting is probably like a child's, since I haven't really utilized it in so many years, because of computers.

I don't think anything is different the way I was taught things by my dad, the southpaw way. It works. I never knew, or thought about it until my grandfather told me about tying my shoe laces backwards. I may even be a bit ambidextrous, I just never payed it any attention.

I never realized the difference, but then again, as long as it works, I don't think it really matters how you do something. In many ways, I'm glad I learned on a right-handed bass, because I imagine that would have been a huge pain in the arse to even get basses. There really isn't much for a selection for lefty instruments, I'll give them that. Even less for finish options, and often, they cost more.

Left handed basses, and short scale strings availability. There's a near incompatibility. Image
