I get a smile when I think of the 60's. It just comes over me.

Names of basses really doesn't mean anything pretty much anymore.

When I was playing the Eb-0 the other day, I thought I felt the the neck / fretboard seemed a bit more narrow than the EB-3 was. So,..... I looked it up, and then measured the EB-0 at the nut. The EB-3 at the nut is 1.65", a Precision width. The EB-0 nut measures out at 1.50". A JAZZ neck. A win, win for the Epi EB-0. An SG/EB body, short scale with a monster Humbucking, and a Jazz width neck with a 12" radius fretboard. So in a way, even though the EB-0 is an Epi, it has a Fender Jazz sized neck to it. I really playing like a 12" radius board. It fits right into the Jazz Bass Guitar section here.

That's interesting in like it's kind of like the widths with the Jazz and a Precision. Although, according to the specs on a Player Precision is 1.625" and the specs on a Squier Classic Vibe '60s Precision is 1.685" widths. Speaking of Precisions, I'll be due for some GAS for one when I get around to listening to some Pink Floyd again, especially if I watch "Live At Pompeii." :P That movie would make a great advertisement for a Precision Bass, especially during the song "Echoes," during that breakdown where he's playing that one funky part, and they have a closeup shot of the bass.

I remember that neck on the EB-0 being pretty smooth and fast feeling. With those specs, I can see why. That was one of the first things I noticed from it.

The nut width on the Roger Waters Precision runs the old 1.75". That was a brass nut on that Precision. I know it doesn't seem like much, but my short fingers do a lot better with the flatter 12" radius fretboard on the Epiphone / Gibson boards, then on the Fender 9.5" boards. The more curve of the fretboard puts my fingers closer to the strings as they reach across them to access the A, and E strings. Especially the E string.

I guess all Precisions aren't the same with the widths on them, then. Sometimes, they'll just have a Jazz neck on them, as well. There's been a few models like that, usually having the P and J pickup configuration with them. I think the Precision Bass Lyte is like that. It's also a smaller body on it.

If you really want to have a hell of a time with a neck radius and reaching the strings, you should try out a double bass. It's been many years since I played on any, so I might do better now, but those are really tough to reach around. I don't even think their frets are spaced out the same, either.

Electric Basses are as far as my playing goes.

Yeah, that thing is a whole another animal. Not cheap, either. The damned strings on them usually costs over $100 a set, but I guess they last for ages, though. I think it would be a fun thing to try to attempt to learn, but you'd definitely have to put a lot into it to do so.

I'm ok with the electrics. But I do know what you're saying about how it would be to do the double. I bet those strings do cost a pretty penny. The ETB92S are costly enough, but I do like them.

They do make those hybrid, or I guess crossover basses that are like a double bass, but kind of have an electric type neck on them, even fret markers. They're usually those electric models, though. Those are pretty cool, actually. Ibanez has one out now that looks interesting, at least to me. https://www.ibanez.com/usa/products/model/upright_bass/

D'Addarios are usually the cheapest priced strings, although I've noticed their flats are a lot more expensive than they used to be. They're $39.99 for a set of long scales, and I think a couple bucks cheaper for short scales, at least at AMS. AMS doesn't have the D'Addario nylons, though.

I don't know zip about the crossovers. GC does a good job of stocking the D'Addario ETB92 series Nylons. The cost just under $39.99. for a set of the ETB92 series Nylons I bit the bullet, and bought two sets of ETB92S Nylons for the EB-0. One set to string on, and the other set to hang on too. No shipping cost, but I did have to pay $5.60 sales tax, because GC has stores in the state. I may hopefully never need to use the second set, but at least I have them.

I sometimes wished I never was a Roadie. In the back of my head, I'm always thinking of what can go wrong with anything having to do with my stuff. If I wasn't one, I probably would have kept one of my tube amp heads. Damnit!

I noticed the last time I ordered from AMS they charged sales tax, which I guess they are doing because maybe a Rhode Island state law, or some crap like that. I don't know for sure. I suppose you got to pay sales tax with any kind of stuff you buy around here like that, anyway, sans the internet.

That's really not a bad idea to have backups to stuff, even if you never wind up needed them. At least you do have them if you ever do. Which tube head was that?

Either the Super Bassman, or the V-4B. Either one would have been above and beyond what I actually needed.

Yeah, especially that Super Bassman. 300 watts of all tube will certainly rattle some windows. Did you ever fully crank that amp to see what it would do?

No, not in this small room. Once the volume of the room is filled with sound, you can't tell how loud something really is. It was a loud sob though.

I went into a GC right next to a PetSmart, and plugged in an EB-0 into a Rumble 200. It didn't have Nylons on, but it sounded good. The fretboard on it had an orange look to it, Pau Ferro. I lucked out with mine being the Rosewood. It is a 2019, mine is a 2018 if that maters on the fretboard.

I imagine it was pretty loud, and you weren't even running through an 8 x 10" or a 2 x 15" cab, which would move even more air, I'm sure.

So how was it with the 15" speaker, from using the Rumble 200? Interesting what you were saying about the fretboard, so I looked up the specs of it on AMS and they were saying it's made out of something called Granadillo: https://ncwood.biz/exotic-turning-woods/granadillo/ I've never heard of this wood before, but it does look pretty nice.
