hey anyone out there hav the new american standard jazz bass five string??? i would like to see some opinions on this bass..... :D

I think its a incredicle bass, as are all fenders! :D

nice sound, Plays great!

Oh yeah just a thing, with strings, taperwound strings work best with this bass i think, because its string through body! U can put them through the bridge but i prefer them through the body! i did put on rotosound swing bass strings, but the Low B and E string went dead cause of the bend in the string going through the body, thats why there has to be taperwound ends on the B and E string! then there is no bend on the string, the rest of the string are ok, cause they have thin ends!

anyone else had problems with string through body basses!

Thanks! 8) :D

Congrats on the purchase. I've not have any answers to the other questions you posted. BrotherDave and Jlarocho might be able to help. Mastermold and Ally too might chime in. These guys have the knowledge and wisdom to help on the technical end. Again, congrats. :D

I use a Fender RB V Jazz Bass. I run DR Hi Beam or Marcus Miller Strings through the body. They are not taper-wound. I don't have any negative effects from the regular end strings, other than you would have to re-adjust the bridge saddles.

I do like the tension & the resonant tone the through the body string option offers.

hey contrabassist... it is weird about the strings cause i read that if there a bend in the string, they just go dead, thats what mine did exactly! the string just bent when it went over the bridge saddle! when i tuned up the string! its not a problem now cause i use Fender Strings!

Thanks for the reply :D 8)

DBass, try pre-bending them at their respective locations (witness point(s)) by comparing them to their same string you just removed, then "ease them into the bend(s)".
My V-24 Jazz isn't near as sharply bent as my Lakland 55-94 and i always prebend all my strings, never had any problem on taper and or non tapered. Just take your time, warm the end your going to bend inbetween your hands or fingers, then "work" the bend slowly.

You're Welcome.
If you do the pre-bending and you still have a problem, jump back on here and we'll step by step it if need be.

I have not had any trouble with mine. Running LaBella Super steps which are all tapered except the G.
By the way, has anyone noticed there are no listings anymore on Fender .com for this model? Wonder why? Gone so soon? :?

Are you manually bending your strings first?

no i dont need to manually bend these ones! they fit perfectly over the bridge saddles... The B and E string have the tapered end so they go over the saddle perfectly... fit in the groves..

just check out the picture of the bass on this site and u will see

http://www.fender.com/products//search. ... 0190760705

check out the photo were it shows the bridge.. look at the B and E string ends
