I remember hearing about that, with AM radio. The Doors "Light My Fire" was edited, and I've heard the edited version on some station years ago (obviously, not back then, since I wasn't born until 1971.) Then FM came out and it changed the whole ball game with that.

A lot of times, there were two cuts of the same song. A single version from a 45 RPM, the one the AM radio played, and the album version from the LP. Iron Butterfly had a single version on a 45 of, In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.

Yeah, there is that. I'm not sure about 60's music, but at least going into the 80's, you also had singles with either a 7" or 12" record mix. I think that probably goes into dance music or New Wave type genres, Reggae, etc. I'm not sure if a lot of rock music did that or not.

All I know is CD's came along, and it wasn't too long after that, the 45's, and LP's were gone. Now they're making a come back.

Yeah, there's even recording studios that are back that record in all analog to vinyl. I do remember when CD's came out, but I didn't start getting those until maybe the mid 90's. I was still buying cassettes, but then the CD's got cheaper, and I finally got a CD player. What's really odd, is even cassettes have made somewhat of a comeback. Go figure on that one.

That's ok with what ever does a comeback. I never thought 8 tracks would bite the dust like they did. Image

I remember those, too. By the way, did you ever try playing any records backwards? I'm sure you've heard about that crap, like if you played "Stairway To Heaven" backwards, or that sort of thing. If anything, it would probably just screw up your record.

We tried that with The Beatles, supposedly clues for telling if Paul McCartney was really dead.

Well, you certainly have a selection to choose from now. How are you dividing that up, with the time for each one?
