I will have to say yes, since I really didn't give the other one a chance. I'm thinking this one does have a better, fuller sound. It's very playable, and for whatever reason, it does have a real short scale feel to it. Maybe this has to do with the placement of the neck being set further down into the body, I guess. The LaBella Nylons play similar to ETB92S Nylons, and they are a perfect fit into the ball end of the bridge tail piece, the nut, and the silks are spaced fine above the nut into the winding pegs.
The Humbucking pups are super powerful also. Like I may have eluded to before, the Markbass is another piece to this puzzle that seems to be a working well with the 1X12. I can only imagine what the sound would be like with a NY121 cab running this through combo would be like. The settings on the combo are very agreeable for the Hofner. At this time, I don't want to even think about getting another cab. I may get another one someday, but it's out of the funds for now.
Yes I do like it better than the first one, and it's a keeper.

It sounds like you have a nice combination of gear, then. 8) I wish I could get an actual Hofner, but they are way too expensive for me at this point in time. Then again, if I could afford that, I'd probably go for their other models, like the President, or Federal bass. I like the violin shape, but I think it would be cool to do something totally different. Although, those are probably a lot harder to find, at least in the US, maybe.

The Hofner "Clubs" look pretty interesting too.

Yeah, and they have those in the budget versions, too.

Hofner does a pretty decent job of offering a somewhat limited, to wider range of basses, without having to many to chose from. I can't say that I didn't have enough Hofner basses to think about getting. I almost went with the 500/1 Contemporary Violin. That had a chose of coming with a case,, or no case. Oh well, I'm back to where I was when I had the 500/1-64, about three, or four years ago.

AMS used to carry the whole range of Hofners, including the Verythin and Club series in the Contemporary range, as well as the cheaper models, but it looks like they stopped doing that. I guess they weren't selling for them, or whatever. I guess Guitar Center/Musician's Friend, and Sweetwater still caries them. Does Sam Ash? I haven't been on their site in awhile. GC doesn't seem to have the Verythin model, either.

SA carries a fair amount of Hofners, but SW seems to do better on stock, and maybe pricing. For me, SW does better without kicking me for sales tax. If I were able to get my Hofner through SA, it would have cost me $161. in sales tax. Mine worked better than I expected through SW.

I suppose as long as Florida doesn't make you pay sales tax on internet purchases with stuff outside the state, then you should be OK with that. I think Rhode Island they do now, but I'm not 100% sure. I did have to pay tax at AMS, when I got the Ibanez, and I read somewhere about them passing a law to do that. I haven't really looked into it, though.

Close, but it doesn't work that way. If there is a company location in the state, and an item is purchased, and shipped from the same company but out of state, tax is levied. That's one reason I use Sweetwater a lot. They have no location in the state of FL. GC, SA, do, so a sales tax would get me.
The Hofner would've had $161. in tax from SA, or GC. No tax from SW.

Yeah, I know there's several Sam Ash stores in Florida. Some of them used to be Thoroughbred Music stores, back in the 80's/early 90's, when those were around. I used to go to two or three of them. The locations in Tampa and Clearwater. I might have gone to an Orlando (if it was one) location, as well. The closest Sam Ash to me is in New Haven, CT. Not really close at all. There's a Guitar Center in Warwick, though, besides what's left of mom and pop shops.

A little less than a year ago, GC opened a new store just north of me in Delray Beach. It's one of the small stores, but not bad for a company that's on the skids.

Yeah, who knows what's going on with that? There's been talk of them with doom and gloom for years, but they haven't sank yet. It's strange if that's the case, they're opening another store. Who knows, maybe it's some money laundering scheme? :P They also deal with used gear, and online, to where you can buy used gear from another one of their stores, so maybe that's what also helps keeps them afloat. Plus, they are often the only game in town. They're kind of like Walmart in a way, like that. Oddly enough, you can buy gear on Walmart.com (I've bought Rotosound bass strings from there,) and one of the sellers is Music123, which is owned by Guitar Center.

I went to the Coconut Creek, local GC store, and they had, they had, my Olympic White Mustang PJ. It's back in the fold, again.

You've been lucky about that. I take it no one else wanted it, then.
