Sounds good. At least you don't have to wait too long for it. 8)

I imagine you'll be waiting around having that one delivered to the house. I'd certainly be paranoid having that sit on the front porch.

No,.... I'm having it delivered to one of the local FedEx print stores. It's a safe way to have it dropped off. It's a little over a mile from the house, and a signature is required with a picture ID. They will hold it there for five days, unless you ask for extra holding days. It usually gets to the FedEx store pretty early in the morning. Earlier than a home delivery will.
A track showed it arrived at the big FedEx hub in Ocala, FL at 5:07 PM tonight, just off of I-75 about five hours north of my location further south.

I didn't think about that kind of option. They have a FedEx store around here, as well as UPS, which we've used extensively to ship stuff from.

I just did a track on the Hofner, and only two minutes before I tracked it, it was scanned onto a FedEx truck out for delivery, in West Palm Beach. So,................. about an hour or two for it to be at the local FedEx ship store. Image

I picked it up just before noon at the FedEx store. It looks great. Not to mention it plays really nice. ImageImageImage

For being a DNS, I found two very minor blemishes that didn't stand out at all. One, on the back of the body toward the top, in the finish, it looks like a very minor acne in the finish when it setup. The second one is on the E side of the top of the neck pocket on the body, where there's a thin, long shaped small area about an 1/8th of an inch where there isn'y any finish on it. Both of these you would really have to be looking for something. To see the what appears to be the light acne on the back, you have to hold it at just the correct angle under a bright light to see it.
This Hofner is beautiful, and the DNS price was $700. off of the regular 500/1 price. Image

I'd say that's a pretty good deal, considering how nice that looks from what you've posted. Besides, as long as it's appropriately discounted, who cares if something might be blemished or not, as long as it plays right. I doubt even Paul McCartney's stayed in pristine condition for very long, considering how much mileage he put on it, even before they hit the big time. They gigged their arses off in the early days.

I can't complain about the minor blemish in the finish on the back of the body. Like I said, you really have to look for it to see it. Myself, and the "Electric Lady" played for almost two hours today, and I really had a chance to set the amp controls, the 500/1's controls, and just getting into a comfortable playing feel, that I honestly didn't do with the other 500/1 I previously had. Playing this one is genuinely falling into place super fine!

When I shut off the amp, and unplugged the amp cord from it, I realized this really is the combination that would have made the other 500/1 a keeper. Its corny as hell to say, but a great feeling came over me. ImageImageImage

Well, that can happen with certain combinations of things working together, when sometimes they don't on their own, or with other things. Certain basses, even though they are technically the same model, might not even be the same. I could get another Ibanez bass (just as an example,) and even though it's probably done through a CNC machine, instead of being all hand made, it could totally feel and play differently than the one I have, in the slightest bit, not even factoring in whatever strings are on it, or amps.

I'm glad I'm taking the chance to get the Hofner. Like I said I Guess a bunch of times, it was the one bass I never should have parted with. However this one just has an aura feeling about it. Like it was meant to be. Or as I like to think of it, a KARMA to it!

You think you'll like this one even better than the previous one?

I will have to say yes, since I really didn't give the other one a chance. I'm thinking this one does have a better, fuller sound. It's very playable, and for whatever reason, it does have a real short scale feel to it. Maybe this has to do with the placement of the neck being set further down into the body, I guess. The LaBella Nylons play similar to ETB92S Nylons, and they are a perfect fit into the ball end of the bridge tail piece, the nut, and the silks are spaced fine above the nut into the winding pegs.
Yes I do like it better than the first one, and it's a keeper.
