It's time again for a White Jazz, with a Maple fretboard. A Player Jazz.

Is this the replacement for the Standard Series?

Yes it is. I think it's great. It's a MIM Jazz with some fine Alnico V pups on it too. I'm very impressed with the MIM basses.

I've never tried any Fender MIM basses with a maple board, since the last Fender that I did that had one, was the Japanese made Precision Bass, and I've never seen any at the last time I've even been in a store. There was usually rosewood boards (I haven't actually been in a store in years, before that whole rosewood thing happened) around. I'm glad they have the maple option for all of them, with the Jazz, Precision, and Jaguar series. Of course, not all of the finishes are available for each board type, but at least they have a decent selection.

Lucky for me, the Polar White is pretty much available in all color combinations for the series, and the Pau Ferro or Maple fretboards. I have a Jazz White PG that will take the placement of the Parchment PG that comes on the Player Jazz.

Is the pickguards pretty universal on all of those Fender basses? Depending on the finish, I'd probably would want to swap that out, if I were to ever have one, say like the sunburst model, which comes with a white one, that I'm not so keen about.

The Jazz Player Series basses do appear to all come with Parchment PG's. Not all give the option of both Maple or Pau Ferro boards. I've always liked a White body / Maple board / White PG.

That does have a clean look to it.

And like I always said about the Fender White guitar, or bass with the Maple fretboard, and the White PG, Jimi Hendrix's early Strat. I love that look.

I can see why you do. When I got that 50's Precision reissue back in the 90's, the white finish on it, with the maple board, and the gold pickguard, was what got my attention when I saw it in the store. Man, I still kick myself sometimes for getting rid of that bass. I had an Ampeg when I had it, and the combination sounded amazing between the two. There's always something about that which works.

That is so true about things that work well together. I like the Fender head / Ampeg cab.

Which is funny that I have the opposite set up. An Ampeg head and Fender cab. Well, if they came out with that amp just a little earlier.

Yeah,......... like I say maybe too much, timing is everything.
My Player Jazz is showing on the FedEx track of it, it's on a truck for local delivery to I guess SA. I may be able to pick it up today instead of tomorrow. If that's the case, I'm going to be going to SA to attempt to do the BM / Rumble anyway.

I did pickup the Jazz this morning. I changed out the strings, and the PG too.
