I love the tone of the Labella 760FL flatwounds that I currently use and have been using for a while. My delemma is that I get an iching for some roundwounds once in a while like now. But I end up sticking to flatwounds. Yes, flatwounds are $40.00 a set but are actually cheaper when I can kepp them on for a year or two.

I use Rotosound RS66LD's standard guage (.045, .065, .080, & .105). They have perfect tone and hold tune even during climate changes.

DR Bootzilla's on my 24 V Jazz
DR long necks SS are used also, to tell you the truth Fender Superbass strings are on par with most other high quality strings.

I used Rotosound 45-105 on both my Fender Jazz and my Squier P. You asked about styles i play 2 finger on the picking hand with the thumb anchored on the low E. Should really get a thumb rest above the strings.

Used Rotosound for 20 years but have discovered DR Hi-Beams and so far love them! Love the feel on the fingers and the neck/frets.

It does seem better but is it just me or has Rotosound kind of had some consistancy issues over the past few years?

Anyway I have Rotosound Med-lites on my 5 string, Rotosound Standard 45-105 on my Geddy Lee, DR Hi-Beams on my P-bass and as of day-before-yesterday on my Charvel (both 45-105) and Martin Acoustic on my Acoustic bass.

I have only used Martin Acoustic on my Dean Acoustic/electric. Any suggestions on strings for acoustic basses?

yeah Rotosound have released some batches of dubious quality, but then again in my experience so have Ernie Ball which i used to use. The last batch of Fender 45-105 i used had a defective E so....it's all swings and roundabouts.

I use Labella 760n tapewound on the AB34. Great for walking bass lines and Bluegrass.

JazzBassRob,

Hey there, just a question... how do you like the Ash equipment? I have looked at their catalog but haven't seen much in real life.

Thanks!,
Robert

Hey Robert,

The Ashdown MAG 300W is an AMAZING amp! I took a chance because i didn't try it in the store and i was going to buy Trace Elliott! But i saw the Ashdown stuff and i had heard good things so i went for it. The punch, the clarity, the low end and the pure volume all get 10 out of 10 from me. If you see one, try it and buy it you won't regret it.

Rob

I'm really enjoying DR Hi-Beams too. Great strings.
