I have been using Rotosounds on my Jazz Basses for years but I just got re aquainted with the stock Fender strings that were supplied with my 62 reissue. I am liking them. Nice and brite. They take a little getting use to but I will keep them on for a while and evaluate further.

on my '87 DR Black Beauties - .45 - .100 IIRC, on my '07 Fender 9050M flats .55 - .110. Soon I'll have 'em all strung with Fender 7350M - .45 - .105. I just love how the bass sounds w/stainless.

Just put on the 7350s on the '87, I like the way it sounds. Still gotta break them in tho.

Since I am a sponsored artist of Curt Mangan Strings, those are the only ones I use. I usually use Stainless Steel, Medium Gauge, Roundwounds. I have tried many other brands including DR, GHS, Rotosound, etc but found that the Curt Mangan strings sound just as good, last just as long and they cost a lot less.

My basses are 1976 Precision
1978 Fender Jazz
1997 Alembic 5 String

How are those heavy Fender flats? I've used the 9050ML set on several basses (including a viola bass) and liked them but with their higher tension I've not yet tried the M set.

So how do you like that 62 reissue compared with the Jazz basses you've used before? I've been eyeing that one for a while!

It works for me, it gives me the sound I want. I play heavy music to MM, so it might not work for someone else. I cut the strings really short, I have the bass drop tuned to D. I like the feel. I think I'm going back to rounds, I just put the 7350 on the '87, I def like rounds better for the music I play.

DR Hi Beam or Marcus Miller 5 string set: 45, 65, 85, 105, 125

Both are stainless steel with a round core.

P.S. Though the Fender Super Bass 8250s, (8250-5M)
Nickel-plated Steel Round-core Taper-wound Long Scale
are nice. I have tried them on other Fender basses. Pretty
clear for a nickel plated string. I assume the round core
helps with the overtones.

I have tried all different types, but nothing, and when I say nothing............I mean nothing comes close to giving me the perfect sound like SMITH BASS STRINGS, I use the Rock Masters/Medium ........45-65-85-105, around 23.40 per pack but they last forever and stay in tune very well. Try and buy, don't be shy, put em on and fly, and don't ask why!

I've been using Fender Flatwounds. They have a great sound and are easy on the fingers.
