Hi everybody, glad to be back in the forum.
I used to play with a cousin in the early 70´s. He went to Switzerland and played there for almost 30 years. Later, came home but just to die among family and friends. This story is to get you in the mood of things. Now his mother wants to sell his instruments, so I am wondering about a Jazz Bass that he had ( L68XXX serial). It is in very good condition and I would like to offer her a fair payment. Any idea...?
Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing it's a US, and if that's the case then it is a 1965 Gen-u-wine J Bass.

http://www.fender.com/support/usa_instruments.php

And if i'm right...and you FEEL the NEED to be fair. Be prepared to pay through the nose. If it's the type of bass i'm thinking of...i've seen these list on ebay upwards of 10 g's. However, that's just a house of if's. There are a few of and's and but's across the street, but they mainly keep to themselves.

And BTW, if there are any J Basses left. Holla at your boy! Still trying to get my hands on a Fender.

It depends on condition. Here's one like mine, in similar to a little worse condition. I've pegged the value of mine similarly for insurance purposes.

Well, it seems to be a big problem...I have a picture but don´t know how to post it, so better turn my eyes elsewhere or make some kind of a deal, may be monthly payments.....
This one has a rosewood fingerboard with dots but those silver plates are no longer in their place. I appreciate very much your answers.....
Thanks a lot.
P.S. He also had a Strato, a Les Paul Custom, a Epiphone Sheraton and a Ovation...But I guess that most of them belong to other forum...
I´ll se if I can upload the picture.

Sell the bass for her on Ebay, tell her you'll take 15 -20% commission, then you can buy a new bass for your self - AS Jazz or American Deluxe. Both party wins. Unless you can afford the $5 - 9 grand everyone seems to think this bass is worth. I don't know, I'm not an appraiser.
