Hi all, I have a question. I am in the process of purchasing a 2011 Jazz vintage 62, has the stacked knobs, skinny 62 neck etc. But it has a really weird serial number. usually these have a V in front plus 6 digits. This one has no letter and is only 5 digits. The neck is stamped 2011, the neck cavity in the body has stamps but I don't recognize ( or understand) what these stamps mean. Nothing other than the decal on the headstock, has CTS pots, I'm baffled. Any clue what's up with the serial number ? Thanks ahead of time .

Look like Fender does for Vintage Telecaster

5 DIGITS STAMPED ON BRIDGE PLATE

U.S. '52 Vintage Telecaster 1988-present (Check neck date for specific year)

Ya, only the Tele had the SN stamped on the bridge plate.
The Jazz Bass should have a "V+5" or "V+6" on the neck plate.
I'm suspicious.
The AVRI '62 does have concentric pots instead of 3 controls, but I think it also came with pickup covers. There should be holes in the body and pickguard.
The Korean/Chinese symbol (unless it is a "#") in the neck pocket would not be on a US made guitar.

I've owned a vintage 62 before. The bridge and pickup covers do not come installed. Everything looks legit but the neck plate. And yes the last one I owned had a serial number of V xxxxxx.

The paint transfer onto the neck also makes me suspicious, yet it doesn't look like a direct transfer from the pattern in the pocket. Looks like maybe the neck was at one point mounted to a different body with fresh paint?

Where's the copper grounding strip between the bridge and pickup?
Where's the finger rest?
Why is the decal with Offset Contour Body in the wrong place?
Is there a strap button on the back of the headstock?
