Funny thing happened when I bought my Geddy Lee jazz.
For years I saw the thing hangin on the wall at a local music shop.
They wanted way to much than I had for it.

I always told my wife that if I ever won at the casino (a place we like to go once in a while....:-) I'd go buy that bass and a nice practice amp.

Fast forward a few years a guess what?
We'd been playing for a few hours and we were both tired and ready to leave and my wife suggests I play 5 bucks in one more machine.
So I sat down put 5 bucks in and got ready to get back up in a minute or less....looser.....
One my 3rd pull, 3 symbols lined up. On most machines this symbol does not mean Jackpot. It means a couple hundred bucks at most.
Imagine my surprise when the ticket came out and said I won $2500 bucks!
On my way to cash the ticket I was already playing that bass in my head.
(Incidentally we stayed for a bit longer and I mangaged to take that 2500 and make it $3500) Wild night.

So we get home the next morning and just for the hell of it I check the local classifieds online and to my surprise.....someone was selling a friggin geddy Jazz.
For $200 bucks cheaper than at the music store.
Holy Moly!

So, of course i went out and took a look. I told the guy I'd give him 100 less than his asking price.
He took it.....wow.

Then I went and bought and fender Bassman 100.
(Fantastic little practice amp)

Doing some research on the guitar I took at the serial number on the bass.
-B007100-
Holy Crappers!

My last name starts with a B
I was born in 71'

Just perfect.
Like it was meant to be.

Anyone else have a story behind their gear?

test,

This was back in February. I have a '06 Highway One P-bass that was strung with flats. I was starting to want another P-bass so that I could have that strung with rounds. I went to a GC and Sam Ash here in Tampa looking for a black MIM P-bass, but both places had none. Drove over to Clearwater and looked at the GC there, but they had no black MIM either. I went into the Sam Ash over there, and of course they didn't have any.
But wait, the guy helping me swore he saw a black MIM in back somewhere. He goes in the back and takes forever, I'm starting to think he's never coming back. He then returns carrying two boxes. He motions to one box, says this is the MIM in black and he can sell it to me for $400. He then takes the other box, sets it on the counter, and says that this is an American Series in black with a maple fretboard. I'm thinking to myself that he's going to knock $200, maybe $300 off the price. He says that since the American Standard came out, he has been authorized to move the old ones. $650 it what he says. Fooling around with him I say that it's now an outdated bass and I'll take an American Standard for $650. He laughs that over and says how about $500.
Okay, let me think. A brand new, still in the unopened box, never been touched by anyone since it left the factory in California, Made in America Fender Precision bass for $500, or a MIM P-bass for $400. I wish everyday was like that.
