Yeah , I knew you were going to change your mind ! I had a MIM jazz bass and i changed the pickguard to a tortoiseshell and put EMG's and I only had it for a few weeks , a friend of mine insisted on me to sell it to him and I since i had another Jazz with EMG's I sold it . I changed it from 9 volts to 18 volts . here's a picture .

Take the neck off, the date should be stamped on the 'neck heel'.

Jlarocho, how do you like the 18v, mine has the 9v set up. Can I convert it to 18v?

Yes you can ! simply solder another 9volt batt connector in series and put another battery ! I read about it in a bass player magazine . Its supposed to give more "headroom" (i have no idea what that means) but in the magazine was described or compared as having a low wattage amp versus a high wattage amp . You can feel the difference , i had another jazz with EMG's and did the same thing .

Yeah, I wonder where I can add the other battery tho, I only have 1 in the battery cavity, plus it's rear routed so no room there. I'll see what I can do, EMG told me to do the 18v also, but I can't figure out where to store the 2nd battery. That'll be my next project on the '87 I guess.

I just routed a space for the two batteries on the back and fabricated a plastic cover on both basses .
