Hi the nut just broke while I was playing a japanese Fender RI-62-US jazz bass. Where can I find a replacement? It looks like there are many different nuts and I havent been able to find one that specifically matches my bass.

@Armin, I hope you don't think there is a nut that can be put on the bass without any fitting. There is not.

This TUSQ page below shows how to measure your old nut, then you can order one that fits close enough.

If you don't have experience in replacing nuts, order at least two, so you can practise. Or better yet, have a pro do the job.

Thank you all for your replies.

@jmattis I did think it would just magically fit having the right parts  But I guess I'll have to put some work on it.

I'll take my chances with the GraphTech nut as the original Fender replacement doesnt look as good. I'll keep you posted. :D

While you wait for delivery, here are some nice instructions:
Ceri's instructions to fix a pre-cut nut

I hope you ordered a pre-slotted nut - it's a lot easier for a first nut job. Sometimes it's enough just to shave a bit off the bottom. Check often, so you keep all edges/surfaces straight.
