It probably does.

You know, strangely enough, I don't really recall seeing it as a raw material to use, like say plywood, just already shaped for whatever purpose. Maybe I did, but wasn't paying close attention to it. It's not like I've spend tremendous amount of time in the lumber section of a Home Depot. :P Usually when I go in one, it seems to take a friggin' half hour just to go from one end to the other, much less try to find what you're looking for, since they're so vast.

I never took the time to check out MDF in the local Lowe's, or Home Depot either. They probably stock it though. I guess.

One thing, I have no inclination to make any cabs.

I think any time that I wander into a Home Depot and see all of the materials, it gives me the urge to want to build something like that, but the truth is I'd probably suck totally at even doing it, since I've never even tried to do so, and don't know anything about it. There's more to it than simply putting a box together, if you want to make at least a decent one, but I guess you could learn it, like anything else, and there are plenty of resources available, especially with the internet. Then again, you could just get a cheap cab, modify with a decent speaker, or whatever, and it would probably be cheaper in the long run, when you factor in the parts, and time into doing it.

My one home made cab I built in 1970, was way out there.

Did you built it from any sort of plans, or looked inside other cabs, or just winged it?

I just winged it period. It was almost in size able to take 218's. Of course I had two Jensen Concert Vibranto 12's in it. At that time, the magnets on those two 12's were almost the heaviest around. I never weighed the cab, but it was really gargantuas for a 2X12 cab.

How many watts could it handle, do you remember?

I really don't remember what the two Jensen's were rated at.

Probably at least 100 watts, if the magnets were big on them.

You're probably right. The magnets were gigantic on these Jensens. One thing I do remember about them, for Jensen speakers, they weren't cheap.

They're still around and making them, so I guess they've done good for themselves. They seem to be really good speakers, from what I've seen. I've never used them, that I recall.

Jensen is still around today, since they were more reasonably priced all a long, compared to the competition was.
