Almost like a shredded wheats, or something like that.

That was what I was thinking about. Especially, when they get completely soggy.

It's a shame the way that stuff just goes to crap when wet.

That's true. I guess it does that because of the way it's formed in the first place.

That's absolutely right. It's manufacture, is somewhat similar to fiberglass, as it's spun.

I wonder if they could add another material to it to make it at least water resistant?

I would think maybe type of plastic, but that may change the harmonics of it for sound boxes, etc.

I wonder if anyone has ever tried that? They've made speakers out of aluminum, so why not?

I would be more concerned with the plastic affecting the harmonics. Also, the plastic may not work well screws deforming the material just like a regular MDF does with screws stripping out the screw holes. Oh well, I learned my lesson with MDF in the MB Marshall series amps.

My Rumble 350 combo is built with MDF, which probably also contributes to it's extra weight, but I haven't had any issue with it. Then again, it's mostly been sitting in the house, and not moving around much. I did use it a few times out, though.

The MDF is heavier than regular plywood, to compensate for its lesser strength from a comparable sized plywood cab. MDF does have a nice sound to it though.

Yeah, it does seem to resonate the bass frequencies very well.

It was cheaper to use, and it did as you said, "resonate the bass frequencies very well."

Maybe it has something to do with it's denseness?
