I don't know what has fans on them anymore.

I remember one time when I had the Peavey Databass combo, there was someone wrong with the fan (I forget what it was, but I did get it fixed, so it wasn't too serious,) and I had to rig a small desk fan to run into it while it wasn't working, otherwise, I'd have an issue running that amp, because it got really hot. Now that I think about it, it may have been a screw that got loose, and jammed it up.

The fan on the Marshall MB series was another nail in the coffin for those heads as well. They were extremely loud, and some of their fans would actually rev. I must admit, to best of my recollection, that was about the only fan issue on any of the amp heads, or combo heads I have had.

I'm wondering because of it's fan, that might have been a factor in it's issues? It might have been faulty, and not did the job it was supposed to.

In the MB's the fan was a negative component in them. The main issues I had were both loud, and revving. The MB450 head that caught fire was an issue too.

Did you ever find out why it did catch on fire?

No, I was too fed-up with the entire MB Series by then.

I'm wondering if it had to do with the fan and overheating? Then again, would that cause it to catch fire? I guess it doesn't matter now, since it's long gone.

I guess if it heated up enough, the circuits could burn.

It must have been the case, or something similar to it.

Something just wasn't right in either the design, or manufacture of the Marshall MB Series. It really could have been something, other than having the MDF board, in place of plywood. They were just so cheap.

Was that a widely known issue with them?

I'm not that sure, but I believe it was. I spoke to several players that mentioned loud fans, and revving fans too.

I'm willing to bet that it might have something to do with it. Is MDF more flammable than regular plywood? I've never seen it burn in a fire, or anything like that.

I really don't know between the two, which one has the greater flammable rate. They could be the same for all I know. The only thing I can say, water isn't MDF's best friend.
