The one thing I do notice, is every time they put something out to replace something, it's usually $50 more expensive than the last thing. :P Oh well, what can you do?

I played the Fender Special Edition Deluxe PJ through the Fender / Hartke for the first time today. Outstanding. I'm feeling at peace with myself for doing the amp setup I put together. You'd almost think I knew what I was doing, wouldn't ya'? Image

I suppose you picked up a few things here and there, since you've been doing it longer than I've been alive. :P I'll bet that Precision pickup had a nice response going through that 15" cab. 8)

It sounds great with having the 70's wrap on the pups. The same as the USA GL Jazz also has special 70's wrappings. I'm really believing there aren't any basses going through pretty much any tube head, and the HD115. It's an amazing cab.

You like the 70's sound over the 60's one for those pickups?

60's, And 70's sounds somewhat run together. At least say from 1967 to 1974. The rest is the amp settings, where the job really gets done. I've always thought that's where the real sound adjustments take place. The Bass is just along for the ride.

That's true, an amp can contribute to a lot of your tone, especially a really good one. The funny thing about that, is a really good amp makes you wish you had a really good bass to go through it. I've seemed to notice that when I got my Ampeg.

Speaking of your Ampeg, how's that PF800 doing? That's a ding dong good Ampeg head. Is the EQ in it working as you require it to?

The Ampeg is doing good, for the last time I hooked it up. I imagine I'll be using it soon, hopefully. I'm just waiting for whenever the next gig is going to be. Most of the time, I use the Fender amp, since it's already set up in the office, where I usually sit. At least with the Ampeg now, I don't have to worry about it heating up before I can play through it, like I did with the Orange, because of those tubes. You just turn on and go.

There you go! A more workable amp for you. Turn it on, and PLAY!

Yeah, I don't have to wait 4 minutes, like some Stouffer's microwave diner. :P

With the SB they advise like with most, or all tubers, at power up, too run on standby for at least a minute to ease the tubes into a warmup before opening for full power use. I do a standby for a couple of minutes, and tune the bass I'm playing at that time. I also do a standby at power down as well for a couple of minutes, before shutting it totally down. I baby the hell out of this Monster, so it hopefully won't get any maintenance issues needed for a trip to the shop. I guess you know I don't push this SB, or any other tuber I've had.

Yeah, I imagine maintenance on that probably won't be too cheap, if there's a problem, either.

That can be a drawback to a tube head.

That, and the weight, if you have to gig around with it. I'm sure replacing those tubes isn't too cheap, either.
