We used to have a dedicated rehearsal room, but that got converted to a wardrobe room to store all of the friggin' clothes that were acquired over the past couple years, especially for my girlfriend. Stage wear, things like that. We thought about setting up another one where the old studio room is, since we moved that next to the office down stairs, but haven't messed with that. I have basses and guitars stored in there, like the Peavey, and Squier Jazz. The whole thing needs to be reorganized, especially the wardrobe room. It's just a matter of taking the time to do it, since there's been a bunch of other crap going on.

The thing is, we don't really need a dedicated rehearsal room here, since there is the place in Boston, but then again, that's a friggin' haul from where we live. I suppose it would be good, in case we don't want to deal with that, but we've also just rehearsed in the office, with me using the Fender amp. I could hook up the Ampeg, if really necessary. I'd probably just do that, if we made another performance video, but we did that in the dining room, and just moved the table out of the way.

Another thing if we had the room set up there again, it's on the attic level, or 3rd floor, which means I'd have to haul that friggin' cab up two flights of stairs, to and from, while it's on the 1st floor now, stored in a side room area. That's a lot more convenient for when I have to use it for gigs. The less stairs, the better with that thing, don't you think? :P

The easier the better for moving gear. I would do the same with the cab.

Yeah, especially since I don't have to haul it like that. Why risk screwing up my back, or smashing my hands against the wall? :P

At least your Ampeg PF 800 head is easy to move. I'll take the 65 pounds of the Super, in place of 80 pounds for the SVT CL. And mine is just going to set in place. Your PF 800 can go to work at any time. A trip to the repair shop is unforeseen.

The Fender is that much lighter than the Ampeg? That's interesting, since I assume they have the same guts in them for both being 300 watts tubed. That's true with the PF-800. It's really lightweight to move. I still need to go out and get a bag for it. I decided against the Ampeg bag that they make for it, since it's $50, and open on the ends so the two corners stick out. I can find some type of gym bag, or equivalent that has the room to fit the head in, and be full enclosed, and a hell of a lot cheaper, especially at Walmart, or someplace like that. I've seen a few options online, already.

True, $50. Buckaroos is just paying for the Ampeg name, and or logo. It also screams, STEAL ME!!! Like you say, some type gym bag, or a small back pack may serve you well. I'd go for a compact, small back pack. easy to wear around, where you go it goes, and frees up your hands also.

That's another thing I thought about, with the logo, pretty much advertising what's in the bag, besides the ends poking out. Besides, with some sort of bag, I could probably also keep cables with it, or whatever. That was the one big issue with the carry bag that came with the Orange, I could only keep the power cable in it's pouch. I had to carry everything else in another bag, including the speaker cable, which I would have preferred to keep with the amp, to keep it together. I'd still probably have to carry another bag, though. I do have other things that I take with me, like instrument cables, effects, batteries, extra strap, a notebook, etc. Maybe I shouldn't have that all scraping up against the amp head and getting it scratched up. I'd like to try and keep it in as pristine condition as possible.

That's a bit crazy that the corners are exposed in the bag. I know myself, if I carry something in a bag like that, I want it to be totally enclosed. And yes on trying to keep it looking in as pristine condition as possible. Pride in ownership can be a lost value these days.

I don't know why they designed it like that. The amp has these two bars that look like handles on each side that stick out. I guess they are meant as some sort of protection for the face plate, which is at a slant, which I have seen on other things like effects pedals. That's what they have to stick out in the openings.

I know what you mean about pride of ownership. I suppose it has something to do with everything being designed to be disposable, or seemingly that way.

Too true about disposable products these days. On the design of the amp's cover, who knows.

Well, another motivation, besides the questionable design, to look for other alternatives, is the fact that it is $50. That might sound like me being cheap, but I think the only reason it is, is because of the logo on the bag, and I seriously doubt it's going to be made any better than something I can get for half or third of the price. I don't want to spend that much for a bag, then it's zipper breaks off two weeks down the road, or something like that. After the incident I had with a Fender gig bag (to be fair, I didn't buy it, but it did come with a MIM Standard Precision Bass I once had, when they were including them at the time,) my confidence in these branded bags isn't the highest.
