I played the Am. Pro. today, and raised the volume on the bass settings. I liked the sounds I got from it today, more than the other day. The higher volume brought out the sounds. These V pups are good, the just need a bit more push than the Spl. 70's on the GL. I really enjoyed playing it today. These guys are staying where they're at.

Maybe a bit louder than the Am. Std. CS60's, but not as loud as the Am. Vintage 70's on the USA GL.

The GL has the loudest ones?

That's the way it's sounding to me. But I could be a bit off on the settings on the two basses. I have the amp set at what seems to be a good all around set up for the three basses. I do like the V-4B's settings simplicity. Like have probably said before, the Super Bassman was power plus, but the V-4B for only 100 watts, has a great tone, and push to it. I'm sold on the Ampeg.

Ampegs usually do have pretty good EQ voicing to them. That's my only complaint with the Orange head, but that could also be the violin bass not playing well with it, without help. I've never played anything else through it since I have the 4 x 10" cab. I did run the violin bass through that cab without the MXR Bass Preamp hooked up, and even though it was cleaner than with the 18", I wasn't 100% happy with the tone. Maybe the Squier Precision or the Jazz might sound cleaner through it without the MXR, I don't know. What I mean by cleaner, is a brighter tone, if that makes sense. Still bassy, but not dark sounding.

I will say that MXR is a great pedal, besides whatever bass I might use. I did get it for recording purposes, but it's also been helping me with the Orange and violin bass. If I can't change my amp right now, I might as well make the best out of the situation and use what I have on hand. At least I have a good cabinet and power to back it up.

The Orange is a good overall amp. I was never much on pedals, but I can see the advantages to them. You Violin must sound pretty good through that setup.

Yeah, it's been doing OK. I haven't played on it since the last gig we did, but we have another show scheduled at the end of April, so we're going to need to get rehearsing again.

Good to hear things are getting into line on playing.

It seems to, at least. The only thing I'm not 100% on is the head, because of extra EQ options, but then again, I do have at least a workable solution for it.

I don't know how much different the Orange head would be, as compared to other high powered SS heads. Say the Ampeg SVT-7PRO for one. Then I guess the bass being run through it would be a sound indicator too. It's always something!

I know the Ampeg at least has a mid range select switch, plus a couple other options. Maybe that will, or maybe it won't help, but I guess that's all a moot point, since I can't afford to get one right now. I'm also not actively trying to sell the Orange at the moment, since I'm using it. Well, sort of, if someone happens to see one of the old ads for it, if they're even still online. I haven't even looked into that, or tried to run another one, lately. I suppose I could try, I don't know. I can't afford to put it on consignment, since I need to use it right now.

You may get lucky, and someone may want to buy the Orange while you're using it.
