More power to one of the finest bass performers, ever. Sir Paul McCartney.

Yeah, I guess Fender gave a bunch of stuff to the Beatles back then, and that's part of it. I know they were using the Fender amps during the last part of their career.

In the beginning of The Beatles, they were a Vox sponsored amp band. As were the second Iron Butterfly Band sponsored by Vox. Iron Butterfly was also a Mosrite guitar, and bass sponsored band.
For all I know, Ludwig may have sponsored Ringo with his drums. I know a few years ago, Ludwig presented Ringo with a gold snare drum.

They still used Vox in the studio, more or less. I guess the Fender stuff wound up being more reliable. Some of that Thomas Organ Co. Vox gear apparently was problematic, from what I've read. It wouldn't surprise me if Ringo didn't have some sort of endorsement.

Ringo probably did have endorsements with Ludwig all along. For all we know, he may have had only one, or two drum sets.

I always thought Ringo was one of the more consistent drummers, and the most underrated of all time. Not to brag, but I knew some of the big named drummers of the time, and beyond.

Oh yeah, Ringo is that, and yeah I'd say you did.

I always got along very well with drummers. I guess because I was one for a short time back then, so many years ago.

You played drums?

I did play drums, took some lessons on them. I wasn't that great, and my friend who got PW's Rogers set played drums in a band I started playing bass in. That was the end of me being another Ginger Baker.

Oddly enough, when a high school friend of mine started playing guitar (he was the one who eventually got me into playing bass,) we had the idea that I'd play the drums, since we had another friend who already played bass, but then that person was already in a band, so I wound up taking up the bass, since it was a lot easier to get my hands on one, since bass guitars were cheaper, and required a lot less coordination. I did have some cheesy tambourine that I'd beat on while still trying to be a drummer. :P I can only imagine how ridiculous that sounded when we were doing that.

My drumming in a band lasted one session, then I tried a friend's bass. I worked out better in the long run since I played a bit of guitar. That was it in 1968, the bass and never looked back.

Well, it was certainly the instrument that spoke to you, just like me, I suppose. I didn't even have any musical background at all, although I was creative, but with other mediums. I really was getting into listening to a lot of music at the time, especially Led Zeppelin, so perhaps that was what kicked that off. I wanted to try to make the same sounds.

My mother played organ, and accordion. My father played trombone, and was a big band leader, before he went into being a recording studio engineer in England.
