Between that and the 870, you should be well protected, in case the you know what hits the fan. I've read about a lot of people that shoot 1911's prefer the Series 70 action. At least you're not in North Carolina right now, but you know about that, anyway, being where you live. I was hoping that we'd get a break from any major hurricane activity this year, but I guess nature had other plans.

The Series 70 is a decent .45ACP design. I got to be pretty damn good with 1911 style 45's. I just thought it was time to get back to what I used the most, and the best. That, and the 870 should be adequate to defend the realm.

Ironic how slow the tropics were until a short time ago. Hopefully, now that we're past the peak of Hurricane season, the10th of September, things will slow down.

Yeah, I know. My parents and sister are in Garner, North Carolina, but I think they didn't get hit too badly. The last time that I had heard from my sister, yesterday, she still had power. I think we're going to get some rain on Tuesday from that crap. That's cool with me, as long as that's all there is.

That's good to hear they kept their power. It's picking up forward speed, so hopefully it will rain itself out by the time it get's around your part of the land.
The rest of the storms in the Atlantic, seem to be breaking down.

The WPB local weather report tonight said, at this time, there are no hurricanes in the world.

Big storms are somewhat necessary. They stir the oceans up, causing the colder waters from deeper levels to the surface. This helps to cool down the surf temperatures of the larger bodies of water.

I'm having a Rock Island Armory Compact 1911 .45ACP coming in. I do well with a .45ACP. It's based on a Colt Series 70 action. I prefer the Series 70 Colt design, over the Series 80 Colt design.

I'm in the process of changing out the Rock Island Armory Compact 1911 .45ACP, for a Kimber, Pro Carry ll, 2 Tone .45ACP.

Why is that? Was there an issue with the Rock Island one?

Not really. But for a bit more I got an American made Kimber .45ACP, that's as good or better than a Colt .45ACP Lightweight Commander. The Pro Carry ll has an aluminum frame, a match grade stainless steel bull barrel, and has a smoother, tighter fit of the slide to frame.

Hey, whatever works out the best for you. That's certainly one thing that has to be 100% spot on, because you're life might depend on it some day. Hopefully not, though.

One thing I found out that works for me, in my personal defensive firearms, the weapon is of course vital, but the ammunition choice is critical. In a shotgun, a pump 12 GA. In the handgun, a 1911 style pistol .45ACP. I kinda' also had an on the job trining with both.

Well, there was that whole Southeast Asian vacation thing. You weren't exactly sitting by a campfire, singing songs, and having S'mores. :P

And there was that absence of marshmallows around the the campfire too. There seems to be a move back for certain U.S. military elite groups to a 1911 .45ACP style pistol. Some groups never stopped using the .45ACP for the Beretta 92F 9MM.
