I'm hoping for a mellow year, so there can be a decent fall this year. I know that doesn't mean too much down there, unless you start heading north going into Georgia, at least. Probably even further north, I don't know. I mean with the fall colors. Palm trees pretty much stay the same. :P

That's true, I'm sure nature designed them that way, since they were probably native to the area, and not planted by man, from somewhere else.

Native trees do weather local type storms better. It's true, It's natures way.

Wasn't that a song, something about nature's way? I think maybe the Guess Who, or someone like that.

Close. You surprise me sometimes, in a good way. Spirit in 1969. It's "Nature's Way", on the Twelve Dreams Of Dr. Sardonicus album.
You may see that a fair amount of some of my responses are worded from song lyrics. It's just the way my brain works. It's just the way it is. Image

You know, Spirit was going to be my other guess. I knew it was one of those groups, but I forgot which one. I haven't heard that song in ages, that's why I wasn't sure.

Other than a few other bands, Spirit was one of my most favorite one. Spirit's main problem was, they were too talented.

I read their Wikipedia page awhile back. I guess they went through their trials and tribulations, and it all eventually ended for good when that guitarist/singer died in 1997.

Randy California was to young to go on tour with Jimi Hendrix. His step father was Ed Cassidy, the drummer in Spirit. Cassidy was a symphony percussionist, so he was one of the finest drummers going. Cassidy didn't allow Randy to go on tour. I think he was 15 at that time. Hendrix saw the talent Randy had.

That's too bad, but I can understand why he did that, too. There were certainly a lot of excesses during that time, especially being in a rock and roll band, and being that young, to be exposed to all of that. It's bad enough when you do dumb things in your 20's, you usually have less sense in your teens. Then again, they shipped teenagers off to the other side of the world to kill or die in a war. You know that, for sure. If anything will make you grow up real quick, that sure as hell will.

In my instance, I was 20 already, and had been around. I felt like I was an old man in the platoon, but at the same level we were all in. I wasn't even the platoon leader, and they clung to me like I knew something.

That's pretty horrific, when you really think about it. Especially, when the drinking age is 21. Although, they did lower it to 18, along with the voting age, because of that, and I remembered when they raised it back to 21 in 1984.

I couldn't even begin to imagine being in a situation like that, when I was around that age. I knew how to cook a little bit, write a check, grocery shop, and I got my first place when I just turned 19. Pretty much, I had barely a clue about anything else, other than wanting to be a musician, and barely even knew how to play bass at that point.

Although, I did have to register for Selective Service when I turned 18, and there was the first Gulf War just starting at the time, which made me a little nervous. Then again, our military would have to be in pretty rough shape if they needed to draft my arse for it to deal with some oil fields in the desert. :P

I tried to blend in with the the patrol areas. They wonder why they got shot. With the 18 year olds, it was the circus coming to town. They shaved, used cologne, deodorant, smoked, and carried half the world in their packs. I carried two canteens of water, a day's ration of food, and the rest was .308 Win. for the M14. I wasn't there for a damn picnic. I was there to eliminate with extreme prejudice. Myself, and the M14 did that well.

That's probably why you also survived, and sadly a lot of them did not. I guess they do train you, but that seems like they're still thinking like they were in high school. Wow, talk about getting a reality check real fast.
