They sure weren't quiet by any means.

You would know more than I would. I've never even been on a helicopter, besides not being in the service, especially during a war. Flew on a jet plane once, when I moved from Virginia to Florida, back in 1978.

Helio's drop like a rock when they take a bad hit. I was almost feeling better when we got to a LZ just to get out of those damn things. They were flying targets.

I suppose you could say that was jumping out of the frying pan, and into the fire. I imagine the door gunners had their work cut out for them, as well.

The 4003S is now available in a 5-string version with a Schaller 3D-5 bridge and redesigned pickups.

That's a good description of it. A good door gunner was a God on a Huey.

Five stringer's were never to my liking, and I just don't care for the new style pups on them. I do however like the tuning keys setup on them. If you like a five string, not bad.

I have to say those are pretty cool. 8) I haven't messed around with a 5-string in years, just played on a borrowed one, and a couple in various shops, so I have very limited experience with them.

I spared myself having another piece of GAS to deal with. A 5 stringer bass. I can honestly say, I never had any desire to even try a 5 stringer.

It's certain a different beast, especially if you're used to playing on a 4-string for so many years. The interesting thing that I've seen is that they now make short scale 5-string basses, which would be interesting to try. You probably wouldn't have to stretch out as much to play it. I can think of a few scenarios to where I'd be able to utilize that low B, especially to where you can play a low E without having to play it open, kind of like you can with an A on the E string. The thing about it, is that you have to get used to the fact that the E is not the top string, although there are instances where you can string it up E to a high C, and not even bother with a low B. I guess that depends on your musical tastes.

Yeah, unless a hurricane blows through, which hopefully won't this year, at least.

Well,........ so far the tropics are nice, and quiet. The peak of Hurricane season is September 12th. Here's hoping everyone doesn't have one of those damn storms to deal with. Image
