Yeah, I suppose that can happen, and with that much money you spend on it, you want to make sure you get what you pay for.

It sometimes isn't even the money I'm shelling out for something. I admit, I'm an old Roadie that's a picky PITA about condition, and details of gear.

Well, you were used to dealing with professional stuff, which often is going to have some standards involved to function properly, which is obviously essential. You can't afford to play huge shows and have you gear break down all of the time.

You nailed it. We tried to locate a problem before it became a major issue. We may have been one of the earlier road crews to record live shows to listen to, and compare sounds from a previous show, to the one just completed. We were listening to the tones, and power assessments to see if there were any drop offs. Tubes starting to fail, speakers pushed to their limits. Etc. It did work.

Wow, I wonder what happened to those recordings?

They were erased so they wouldn't be used as bootleg recordings. They were in the contractual agreement of nondisclosure, that was part of the contract agreements. It made it safe for everyone involved.

That's kind of a shame. It would have been interesting to hear those.

That's true. We were really listening to them for gear qualities, but there were times when we'ed take five, and just listen to the music. It was ironic to be able to hear the show sounds going on from the stage to the audience, and what most of us in our crew heard from backstage. I did prefer the backstage world, and watching over everything from back there. It was somewhat magical being backstage in arena, or hall performances.

Yeah,....... from the time I got to the location, and then left for the next one. First one in, last one out. I always had a little traditional thing I said that when we were totally out of a show place. "Let's Ride"!

You know, I thought that, as well. It just sounds like that. Maybe they used that in movies, or I read about it somewhere.

It was a carry over from the older cavalry days.

That makes sense. Instead of horses, you have helicopters.
