I suppose it doesn't matter now, since I did happen to see your post over at Talkbass. :P I won't spoil the surprise, if you want to post about that over here, though. I wasn't expecting that, I do have to say. You must have managed to get a deal on one, then.

I pretty much ran out of time to do much here at the time. I did get a bit of a deal on it, and it literally just came in. I have to wait until Thursday. The store manager gave me some pre information about a 36 month on it starting Thursday. Plus, with this being a Fender site, most players really don't wan to hear about a Ric.

Yeah, I know what you mean about it being a Fender site. We'd probably get in trouble if it were busier around here, and we weren't the only ones posting, in which we do go off topic a lot. :P Then again, maybe that's why we do go off topic so much, because we're usually about the only ones who post here, other than a few people pop in on occasion. Either way, that's cool that you were able to get a deal with a payment plan for the Ric. Those aren't cheap, especially if you have to front all of the money up front.

I need to get this out of my system on this Fender site. Rickenbacker, Rickenbacker, Rickenbacker! There that's done. We do ok on our postings around here.
I checked on the SA site, and,............. the 36 month is showing on there. So at high noon, time to do the deal. As the Chambers Brothers said, "Time Has Come Today"!

Everything went as much as I thought it wasn't going to go, as I walked out of the store with the Jetglo 4003. It has a growl, and an attitude like a Precision on massive steroids. Image

It really is a Kickin' Bastard! It's doing the same good sounds as the USA GL Jazz is on the Overdrive Channel of the 500. The same settings are fine with me for both.

Next time I play the 4003, I'm going to tune it into the Vintage Channel. I wan to see how deep, and mellow this 4003 will go.

I spent a fair amount of time on the Overdrive Channel, and the 4003. So,........ like I said, the Vintage Channel is up next.

How much distortion can you get with the overdrive, or I suppose I should actually say overdrive? I mean, does it get pretty gnarly, like going into fuzz territory, or is it more mellow than that? The overdrive channel on my Rumble 350 combo can get a relatively decent fuzz sound to it, when you dime it all of the way, and do not blend any clean sound to it. It's not actually a Big Muff, though.

It's somewhat of a grinding growl, fuzz if the gain is higher. there can be some mellow on the Overdrive Channel if the gain is cut back. I am going to work with the Vintage at higher volumes to see where it takes the 4003.

Can you can get some Dickie Petersen or John Entwistle gnarly tones? Of course, those came with some ear bleeding volume.

I imagine I could. The other day, I had Pappalardi, and Bruce tuned in damn well.
