I love that look.
White Moto looks good on black as well, but I'm really digging that black on black.

It's one of those that can grow on you.

The Am. Pro. Jazz played incredible through the Bassman setup. I'm serious when I say this Jazz playing through the Bassman setup is possibly the best sound I've had over the years. The 500 head does have a Bassman tube sound.

That's good that it's working out for you. It sounds like it has a really decent tube preamp section going for it. At least with the tube preamp, those tubes aren't as expensive to have to replace, if ever need be. I have no idea how long you can get out of them, though. I've never had to change mine in the Orange, but even though I've had that amp since probably 2015, I've really only had little time on it. It had sit unused for the first year, and sporadically at best when it was used, up until the time I started going to Boston, and did that gig back on March 3rd. I haven't even turned it on since then. I'll use it pretty soon, though. Maybe in July, or unless something else pops up. You never know with music, especially if you're active doing stuff.

The preamp tubes 12AX7A, are $12.99 at Sweetwater Music. They don't have to be biased when installing them either. I surrender to Hybrid "D" class amp heads. A lot better than hundreds of dollars for Power Tubes, and trying to get matched sets of tubes so everything stays more balanced. And the Power Tubes need to be biased by a an electronics tech., that knows what he's doing. PASS on that. There are no standby switches, or polarity switches to mess with either on "D" class amp heads either. Power it up, Power it down.

Exactly. Certainly less of a pain in the arse, especially dealing with cost.

Replacing the power tubes really can be expensive like we mention before. And just an extra issue a Hybrid D class amp doesn't do.

A good sound machine combination, that's getting to be my favorite. I do have to play the GL more though. Image

Well, you certainly have choices on what to play with. 8)

Reverting back to 3-ply white to match the PJ?

I like the patterns on the two Tort's I have. the other one I have has a bigger gold color chunk in it. Other than that, it's pretty free of gold specks. I do like the Tort on the Olympic White Jazz. But not as much as the Mint Green.

Out of curiosity, have you ever tried the white pearloid, or whatever that was, that came with the GL bass on your Olympic White Jazz?

I thought about it, but I like the White better on the Olympic white.

I suppose it doesn't matter now, since I did happen to see your post over at Talkbass. :P I won't spoil the surprise, if you want to post about that over here, though. I wasn't expecting that, I do have to say. You must have managed to get a deal on one, then.
