It's too bad the Arctic White isn't a color option in the MIA Fenders. It's a great looking White, a bit brighter than the Olympic White is.

Do they even still have that finish available on anything? I haven't looked for it.

Arctic White is available on the MIM Standard Jazzes, and Precisions. I sometimes wonder why Mustang PJ's being MIM, are Olympic White. and not Arctic White. I think the Arctic White is about the same tint of white as the Gibson's Alpine White.

I guess they typically use the Olympic White for more vintage themed instruments, if that makes sense. Usually, you'd associate Mustangs with the 60's, or something like that. I don't know, I'm just guessing about that.

That's sounds like the most logical reason for the Olympic White, in place of the Arctic White on the Mustang PJ. The Fender MIM Basses being turned out, are getting some of the nicer special issue basses.

Funny how only a short time ago, the Fender Snoots considered MIM Fenders to be not a real Fender. Who has the last laugh now?

The funny thing about that, is the only difference was the locations between the two is about 150 miles, and the people working in the US side were just as Mexican, in nationality, if not citizenship, as across the border. It wouldn't surprise me if they had people going back and forth between the two places. They just charge you more on this side of the border, because they can. I'll also bet the same or similar people hooted and hollered over the Fender Japan models back in the day, meanwhile I thought those were pretty amazing instruments. Not to stir up a hornet's nest, but people can get a bit nationalistic at times, to put it mildly.

I happen to like the Squiers, which for the money, are pretty decent instruments. Sure, you're going to have some lemons, or have to iron out some kinks, but I've had similar issues with MIM Fenders, and even a USA Fender back in the 90's, which my Japanese Fender blew the doors off of. I don't think there is some ultimate country that makes flawless instruments, but I think you can find things everywhere, especially if you look close enough.

The Rep. at Fender wasn't sure why the two Olympic White Mustang PJ's had the decals on them, at Sweetwater Music. Other than they have the Pau Ferro, in place of the Rosewood. The Fender Rep., I don't think knows that Rosewood on the Mustang PJ's is no more. Only Pau Ferro. There are a few Rosewood board Mustang PJ's at dealers that haven't sold yet. The factory is only turning out Pau Ferro Mustang PJ's.
I believe I know what may have happened. There are some, if not most of the Capri Orange Mustang PJ's set as Special Edition, with decals. The neck on my Olympic White was suppose to be mounted on a Capri Orange. I saw the Capri Orange on the Fender site has a decal on it.

It could be something like that. That would make sense.

One think about it, Glenn.
With you swapping basses so frequently and restringing them with nylon tape, you are definitely adding years to the life of the nylon string industry.

I guess I have. If nothing else, I'm faster, and better now, than I was when I was a Head Roadie at string basses. Image

I just got off the phone with Fender, and ordered a (#0992171000) Black Moto PG for the Olympic White Jazz. The Mint Green PG is ok, but not that great. I held a Black PG over top of the Jazz, and didn't care for the looks of that. Too much contrast with all Black on the Olympic White.
