I'm a guitar player so not super keen on the nuances of spotting fakes when it comes to basses. I'm interested in buying this bass listed as a 1993 USA Fender Jazz Bass. What jumps out at me is the serial number. Never seen a Strat or Tele look quite so wonky out of the factory. Is this a "beware" sign?

Also curious about the hip shot. Were those really stock at some point?

It's a legit bass with the added after market Hip-shot tuner.

That's what some call the "Longhorn Bass", because of the really long upper horn of the bass.

I had an '89 Fender Longhorn Jazz Bass myself that I'd picked up w/ OHSC in a pawnshop about 3 yrs ago for $315 out the door.

I wasn't a bad bass, but I did find out later that these run of "Longhorn" bass have an issue with the string spacing and them not lining up properly because of the bridge on them.

I've read a lot of guy who do buy a bass like this end up changing out the bridge to fix the problem.

I no longer have my "Longhorn" bass. It didn't want to deal with the bridge issue as I had a lot of other basses that were much better.

I hope this info helps you out.

Someone had put an aftermarket WD pickguard and black metal knobs.
