Hi guys, I have an Elite Jazz and it's been through the wars. Lots of gigs, lots of practices. Lots of humidity. Admittedly some neglect.

Left it to rest for a week and played my p-bass instead. Last night I went to plug in the Jazz. No signal :(
I switched into passive mode. Working fine. Changed the batteries. Same deal. Passive only.
Disassembled all the parts, looked for loose wires, unplugged, re-plugged all the connections into the preamp pcb. Same deal. Woe is me. I love this bass and while it's great passive, that's not usually how I use it. I need the boom back.

Any tips? Does Fender sell replacement parts for these Elites? Should I take it in for repair? Has anyone experienced this?

Thank you! :)

You are going to need a good active bass tech. Lots to check. If the preamp is bad I would just replace it with a current production aftermarket one like Aguilar. You did not specify how old it is or if it is under warranty so that advice is good unless it is under warranty.

Just a long shot but ... are you certain the battery was good when you put it in?
Just because a batt was still in the package doesn't mean it's good.
I've seen dead batts still in never opened factory packaging.
A battery tester is invaluable when troubleshooting.
It takes things out of the equation that could just possibly remain a mystery and have you pulling your hair out because you make assumptions.

I learned the hard way a great many years ago.
I never install a battery without testing it first.
No exceptions.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
