I have taken this Jazz bass to several legitimate restorative guitar shops in the Northwest, and I can't, for the life of me, figure out what year mine was manufactured, or if it is even a fender bass. I'll start by saying that I don't see any numbers on the neck plate, and the ones on the head are barely decipherable. I had the neck removed to inspect for any markings or numbers inside the joint, and I could only see a number written by hand on the end of the neck. I feel silly having to ask, and I know that it can be almost impossible to positively ID a body, but I was hoping that I could ask the fender experts for guidance.

Any pointers are appreciated.

This is a parts bass with a reproduction Fender headstock decal on a neck made by Warmoth who licenses the headstock peghead shape from Fender. The neck was not made by Fender. Neither were the pickups which appear to be Seymour Duncan pickups. I doubt it is a Fender pickguard also. The control knobs appear identical to ones from earlier Mexican Jazz Basses which would seem to open up the possibility of it having a Fender Mexican body but it could also could be Asian. Judging by the markings and abundance of scars in the neck pocket I'd say it is Asian made and not Fender Mexico made. It has no serial number at all. The numbers on the decal are patent numbers, not a serial. Parts bass but some nice parts. Warmoth makes nicer necks than some other repro makers. May play and sound good and may have some Fender parts but it is not a Fender.
