Hello everyone.I'm trying to see if anyone can identify this particular bass as a real Fender jazz bass or maybe fake one.At the moment i am unable to get better photos than these ones because i'm abroad, but given the circumstance of having only 2 pots,a pickup selector and some extra switches, maybe someone could tell me straight away.
Things that i do know are:

Tuners are Schaller's,does not say Fender.

Metal plate on joint does say Fender, has a Fender logo and production number.

Pretty sure that nothing is written on a string bridge.

As i said before,it does have a pickup selector,1 pot for tone,1 pot for volume that affects both pickups.

There are NO holes that would suggest that pick guard or any plate was ever removed from it.

On head stock it is written "Fender" and "jazz bass" but logo isn't printed on it,closest i could describe it as if someone used tar to write it,you can actually feel it by touching it.

I might be able to get detailed photos of it in a few weeks, but i'm just wondering were there any jazz bass-es similiar to this one?

You know, there's something familiar about that bass, but I can't seem to think what it is, on top of my head. It looks familiar to me. I wish I could help, but maybe someone like Brother Dave would know, if he comes around, which he often does. If you could get more pics, that might help, too.

Terrible photos. Just awful for identifying anything. There was a Fender Japan bass with a pickup switch like that. It did not last long and there are not many of them. They did have a real Fender headstock decal and a Fender Japan neck serial decal. They were not imported to USA. What you are describing sounds fake until proven otherwise. Fender headstocks are branded with decals or Silk Screened. Sounds like you are describing silk screen. Sounds fake to me since Fender Japan only used decals and only Fender Japan made basses with a pickup switch that I recall.

Here are detailed photos of it.As i said, key features are those odd 2 pots and 3 switches.Note that there are no holes for pick guards or anything like that,so it is as it was build with purpose just like that.Because of natural color of the wood i would say that neck was meant for that guitar body,it doesn't look as someone else fitted it there.

Maybe someone will know now :)

Absolutely, positively NOT a Fender Bass of any model at all. These are photos of a Frankenbass cobbled together with a forged decal. Not even sure there are any Fender parts on this instrument. It might play good, it might sound good, but it ain't Fender.
