Just recently got an American Pro Jazz. First bass that I own that has a body-through stringing. I didn't think much of it, but I've put my favorite roundwounds on it, and the ones I've been using constantly - EB Super Slinky (45-100). I've stringed the through-body, did the whole low setup perfection - they felt quite a bit tighter and less flexible than they always felt. Felt closer to DR Lo Riders in feel, which I don't quite like. After a few days of trying it out, I've put the new set of the same strings (Super Slinky), this time through the bridge - that was it. The old familiar feel was there. The strings were more supple, soft and flexible.

I also tried DR round core strings (Pure Blues) through the body, which were always TOO floppy and soft for me on older through bridge basses and it actually made them usable. They were now flexible just enough, and I could dig in a bit harder and the strings weren't as bouncy which helped with faster runs.

This now makes me curious about TI Flats. I loved their tone, hated their noodle loose feel. But now I could try them through-body and I bet that would help "tighten" them up!

I'm looking into buying an American Professional Jazz, and it'll be my first string through bass. I'm not here to debate string through vs top load, but has anyone had any problems with heavy or extra heavy strings going through the body? I wanted to try out D'Addario heavy prosteels, which are .055 .075 .090 .110. I was also considering DR ddt strings which are pretty much the same size, and the E string is offered as .115 or .120
