True. We could further derail this thread by discussing the merits of pizza, but probably shouldn't. :P I was just joking, anyway.

Pepperoni, mushroom and green pepper.
My usual order.

Anchovies too, if they have 'em.
Most joints around here don't keep them anymore.
That's a shame.
I love me some anchovies.

Sometimes fresh tomatoes on top.

I haven't had anchovies on a Pizza in a long time. Lately it's been mushrooms, pepperoni, and meatball, or Italian sausage. Oh no! I'm hungry now for a Pizza!!! CHOO CHOO on the horizon.

You know, I haven't had anchovies in a long time, either. I always forget about them when ever I get a pizza for some reason. I have to say, my girlfriend makes the best pizza that I've had, but she's also Italian, so there you go. :P

I do NOT like string through ONLY bridges. I like having a convertible that gives me a choice better. Some strings, especially flatwounds, do not like body through setups at all and will break. Labella's 760M string set used to have a sticker on it saying not to use them on body through setups. They added that sticker only AFTER I broke dozens of them and stopped using them completely. String through only basses seems to cause more problems than are worth it for the questionable tonal benefit. The Labella 760M was one of very few sets available to me back in the late 60's. There just were not many choices. Players have it much better today.

I'm in a semi unique predicament. I love through body stringing and exposed core strings. My answer is to use Fodera Anthony Jackson signature strings on my Steve Bailey Jazz Bass.

A man after my own heart.
Through body, exposed core on all 4 strings is my preference.
I like RotoSound PSD 99s.
Amazing spank and snap and sheer power from those babies.

Yeah if you are going to do string through with exposed core strings then you need to get longer scale strings to do it. I've never had particularly good luck with Rotos I usually kill them pretty fast.

With the PSDs you control how much core is exposed.
You actually adjust the placement of the ball end, if you can call it a ball end.
It's more like a tapered wedge kind of thing.
It's a complicated system to describe verbally but you can choose to have the windings sitting conventionally on the saddle or you can have them start an inch or two down toward the neck past the saddle or anywhere in between.
I usually have them so there's about 3/8" of exposed core past the saddles.

Hey guys...new Fender Jazz owner here! Interesting discussion...love the sarcasm, humor and information being passed! :)

I was excited about stringing through the bass and my 5 string came shipped with all 5 strings through the body. I removed the factory cables and put on my preferred gauge/brand strings and fed them through the body without hesitating. This discussion has me thinking because the strings I usually use feel stiffer, but this is a new bass and style on which I have never played. My next restring I will go through the bridge and see if they feel any different and will report back. Thanks for the information!

I got an all parts string through bridge an took my 2000 mim Jazz to a machinist friends place he did an amazing job making the mods and putting it together. I absolutely the change in the sound and plan to do the same to any future bass I buy. I have had some trouble finding strings that are not too short or long.
I prefer flats but tried round wound when I was looking for the right fit. In the end I found that the Fender medium flat wounds a perfect fit.
